Re: Van body to pick up tub conversion
Ah yes that's complicated! Best I can think is to top the edge with some wood trim which wouldn't be brilliant with my woodworking skills!!

Van body to pick up tub conversion
I've a pick up under rebuild but it came with a flat bed. I've been offered by someone to sell me some van sides with the suggestion of cutting them down to make a tub like the original. Is this feasible? Is it straightforward or is a difficult and time consuming thing to do? I don't want to convert...

Car transporter size?
What size car transporter/trailer do you think I'd need for a traveller. Any suggestions for best make. I've seen Brian James and Woodford lightweight ones for sale. Many thanks.

I'd be interested where you're getting a quote of £1000 in 2024. I could be ok interested at that price. Thanks

Nuts and bolts
As I start to dismantle my moggie pick up as more and more of the bolts shear I'm thinking it's going to be better off just replacing most of the nut and bolts! Looking at eBay there's a couple of companies that sell bulk unf bolts and nuts and washers supposedly for Morris rebuilds. Two questions t...

Pick up or van?? Body number?
I'm looking at a 1969 pick up which needs restoring (I'll come on to that in another post perhaps as it needs chassis repairs) but I've checked the reg and it comes back as 6cwt on the DVLA site. It's got a plate screwed on the bulkhead on it which has the letters MAVS-26..... Looking at the Potteri...

Re: Stuttering at 50+
It’s electronic ignition, so no condenser. ( Whether the whole unit is overheating is another possibility!!)Biggles1957 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 9:00 am Did you change the condenser yet? Sometimes when they get warm they start to break down...

Re: Stuttering at 50+
Thanks for the suggestions. Before I do the tank I will try some of the simpler things! That’s much my preferred route. I have already changed the air filter (forgot to list that). I’ve ordered a new rotor arm and will try that, and a new fuel pipe from the pump to carb. I did wonder about the elect...

Stuttering at 50+
I’ve restarted my post as it got hijacked by a couple of other issues :D We got a 1967 traveller a couple of months ago. It’d not been doing much for around 3 years. Once it’s warmed up with choke off at around 45-50+ it starts to stutter and lose power. Once we’ve pulled over we can then start up a...

Re: Carb? Stuttering after a while
Well I don’t think it’s sorted yet.. The run mentioned above was fabulous. So a couple of runs have been ok, but latest one was not good, lots of stuttering! Checked the float chamber again, and a very very small amount of muck at the bottom. Checked the fuel filter in the fuel pump again, and strug...

Re: Carb? Stuttering after a while
Ref. OP and stuttering Should have also added toy list of actions done that whilst checking the fuel filter I blew back down fuel feed to clear anything lurking. Anyway, sunny day today so just been for a 20 mile return run to the river and back and all was good, running nice and smoothly. So far so...

Re: Carb? Stuttering after a while
My progress to date: Fuel pipe to carb tightened Filler cap loosened Coil replaced New air filter (because I could!) Pump filter cleaned and reshaped (see picture above) Float chamber cleaned (some black gunge at bottom), refitted with new gasket. (Needle valve appears clear, so did not replace. Jus...

Re: Carb? Stuttering after a while
Not the second option as I've tried replacing the coil with a new one I had. (Unless I'm supremely unlucky!)newagetraveller wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 1:35 pm Dirt in the float chamber?
Ignition coil breaking down in the hot weather?
So tomorrow I'll have a look at the float chamber, think there's a spare gasket in the spares box!!
