Re: VIN NUMBER for an import convertible
You ask what I'm trying to achieve! Well I guess just to satisfy an obsession not to have inconsistencies. I would be happiest if the vin and v5 and the heritage certificate all agreed.
(Of course I also want the horn button to work as it's meant to.. amongst other things.

VIN NUMBER for an import convertible
OK, so bought a convertible, its G reg as v5 says it was previously overseas, so that's first UK reg. The vin plate, which looks front stamped not rear stamped says MA2S5 xxxxxxxx. It has all the characteristics of a dual personality minor, clap hand, old switches etc, and the number part correspond...

Re: Gearbox covers, choice available
I think if it was only 1 extra it'd be normal, but 3 or 4 definitely veritable.

Are there any pictures of this? I looked in the van workshop manual but can't see it illustrated.

Re: Thread sizes
I've looked through, but can't see a bolt size for the 3 way union that's mounted on the rear axle. Sorry if I've missed it. Any ideas, please?

Re: Brakes and Hubs Nightmare
Thought I'd update. I first bought some more bearings and they fit one set of the three pairs of stub axles slightly better. So I think that the tolerances are very small and the need to clean the stub axles up is more than I thought! Amazing how what looks straightforward never is on a 60+ year old...

Re: Brakes and Hubs Nightmare
Bigger bearings are 30205 A.
Other markings are an M and URB (not sure about the B). Those seem to tie in with those in Neil's thread.

Re: Brakes and Hubs Nightmare
Latecomer to this thread. So the bearings should easily slide over the stub axle without any pressure? With my kit they seem to fit too high and so you can't as J says put on, add nut, tighten up and drive off!

Re: Van body to pick up tub conversion
Ah yes that's complicated! Best I can think is to top the edge with some wood trim which wouldn't be brilliant with my woodworking skills!!

Van body to pick up tub conversion
I've a pick up under rebuild but it came with a flat bed. I've been offered by someone to sell me some van sides with the suggestion of cutting them down to make a tub like the original. Is this feasible? Is it straightforward or is a difficult and time consuming thing to do? I don't want to convert...

Car transporter size?
What size car transporter/trailer do you think I'd need for a traveller. Any suggestions for best make. I've seen Brian James and Woodford lightweight ones for sale. Many thanks.
