Re: Tachometer wiring check

Sounds like you have electronic ignition fitted. If you have a smiths tacho gauge fitted and in tiny writing at the bottom printed is RVI then its a compatibility problem. But RVC is a wiring problem.

Re: Tachometer wiring check

What do you mean my module? I haven't come across a tacho module but know that it's a common fault for tachometers to stop working when ignition modules are fitted. years of playing with MGBs.

Re: Cylinder head removal 1098

Having just enlarged the photo of your block I would be looking at more than just the head? No2 piston looks like it's been attacked internally bits of the edge of the piston look to be missing and all the register marks in the crown suggest something had entered the bore.

Re: Vedette Marine BMC Engine - What electronic ignition should I use

I fitted this unit to my vedette engine It was an easy job using the old D2a distributor. The only things I changed were the plug leads as in the blurb it states using normal HT leads could in the long term damage the trigger head. 14 years on I have never touched it since fitting. The only thing is...

Re: Brakes

I think the problem with any kind of hose with metal braiding over the pipe (whether a brake hose or a fuel hose) is you cannot check the condition of the rubber hose. You cannot see if it is bulging or is cracked. Just a note braided brake hoses don't have a rubber core they are made of ptfe a for...
