Re: Air Filter / Air Filter Housing
I fitted an mgb air filter box with a K&N filter inside. This way you lose the angle mount so better air flow the air box has a hole you cant see on the other side and no induction noise from the K&N,

Re: Brake master cylinder
Mine was the same but servo on drums. When I converted to disc brakes found that the banjo bolt on the drums fitted nicely into the mater cylinder. One less place to leak and neater to my eye plus more spanner room.

Re: 12g940 head clearances !
I was in the same position as you. But having fitted a Hif 38 carb and manifold and a proper air filter solution in my mind with a larger bore exhaust system first to make easy space in the garage, found the car went so well the head has sat on the bench for months. But having fitted a 3.9 diff I'm ...

Thought about it and I think there will be no problem. I overlayed a 1098 gasket on a 1275 one picture attached.

Re: what carb 1275
Coming back from a car show a chap down the road who has a 1275 traveller told me he was struggling to keep up with my 1098 traveller. We compared motors and I have HIF38 cab and larger bore exhaust his was running a standard carb and exhaust, He has since changed his to a hs4 carb and a larger bore...

Re: Tachometer wiring check
Sounds like you have electronic ignition fitted. If you have a smiths tacho gauge fitted and in tiny writing at the bottom printed is RVI then its a compatibility problem. But RVC is a wiring problem.

Re: Tachometer wiring check
What do you mean my module? I haven't come across a tacho module but know that it's a common fault for tachometers to stop working when ignition modules are fitted. years of playing with MGBs.

Re: Cylinder head removal 1098
Having just enlarged the photo of your block I would be looking at more than just the head? No2 piston looks like it's been attacked internally bits of the edge of the piston look to be missing and all the register marks in the crown suggest something had entered the bore.

Re: Vedette Marine BMC Engine - What electronic ignition should I use
I fitted this unit to my vedette engine It was an easy job using the old D2a distributor. The only things I changed were the plug leads as in the blurb it states using normal HT leads could in the long term damage the trigger head. 14 years on I have never touched it since fitting. The only thing is...
