Re: Constantly flooding when trying to cold start

The needle valve in the float chamber isn't sticking open is it? Hi I’m not that technical , all I know is when she’s cold I need to use the choke to start her although I hate using it as I’m always worried I’ll flood her , 1 day she was fine the next she won’t start but floods very quickly Alice x

Re: Constantly flooding when trying to cold start

How is the mixture when running? It could be running far too rich, which will not help starting - especially if using too much choke. Completely blocked air filter? Is there a spark for it to even try to start? Hi there Thx for the help hun , I’m gonna get changed out my skirt suit and heels when I...

Re: Constantly flooding when trying to cold start

When was this car last serviced? These cars need to be maintained to operate properly. Over time, cars get harder to start if plugs, points etc. are neglected - and if it is hard to start because of this, flooding is likely as the engine churns over. A dirty, clogged air filter can cause the car to...

Re: Constantly flooding when trying to cold start

Have you tried with no choke or a minimum, barely any setting? I started Basil a couple of days ago for the first time in weeks and he fired in a couple of seconds with 1/4" of choke out, no pressing the throttle until he fired. You shouldn't have 'foot to floor' to try and crank out excess fu...

Re: Starting Dad's old Minor

Hello Alice, I am a lady moggie owner/driver but I am afraid I am a little older than yourself. My first car was a moggie when I was 18, a black 4 door saloon with a red stripe down the side. As the year's went on and the children came along, i switched over to a modern car. Now I am in my 50's rea...

I’m getting better at starting LUCY , yesterday after work she started 3rd try with 3/4 choke and 4th try this morning with again 3/4 choke , no problems once I began driving so definitely getting the hang of using the choke but it’s all down to you guys

Thx so much 💋

Our Traveller, Alfred, is Jayne's car and she is the main driver whilst I navigate. We have had it over 9 years and she loves tootling around the countr...

Re: Starting Dad's old Minor

There you are, Alice I said she'd be fine. 8) Looks like the old girl needs 1/2 to 3/4 choke to start easily in winter........ Assuming the car is in good running order and regularly serviced there shouldn't be any question of the car not starting - once you have the hang of the choke knob! If you ...
