Hi Bob.

That front bulkhead area, inside the engine bay, as far as I remember there are no patches anywhere on it, but I am going from memory now. The photos aren't too clear on this so I'll have a good inspection next time I'm with the car and will let you know.

Engine out today, and what a doddle it was, no problems encountered in any way.

The engine bay looks in fairly good condition though we're yet to have a proper clean up of things, but on initial inspection it all looks very promising.

Hmm, interesting point there Chipper. To be honest I've not looked at the engine at all yet other than to get it running. Hopefully I'll be lifting it out the car tomorrow which will give me the opportunity to have a right good inspection of all things engine!

It's not mine unfortunately, I'm just doing the strip down/rebuild work on it. It was however 100% totally free, so that moves the goalposts considerably when it comes to how much will be spent on it's renovation.

Just noticed this last reply. I can confirm the engine plate states M/AT3, so that's that mystery sorted, it's a factory produced convertible!

Hi Richard, some very informative details there, many thanks. I think this project is likely to come down to cost in most ways, so I and it's new owner need to look at all options and start making decisions. Like yourself we want this job only doing once, and we want it to end up as nice as possible...

I have zero experience of Morris Minors so have no idea how this rust compares to the typical 60 year old example of a barn find. I tend to agree with you there ManyMinors, I think the DVLC record is accurate, 1960, but I'll also consider it could possibly be a 61 model.

We want to do a nice job on this car, something to be proud of and it will look completely authentic to 99% of people I'm sure.

While I'm here, I want to thank you all for your comments so far, it's very useful and helpful, I hope I can return the favour one day.

I should have mentioned earlier, this car is negative earth. New battery fitted, along with that accuspark kit, the car now starts and runs nicely, though it's yet to be driven (that will be a long way off yet).
