Re: Cracked bodywork

Hi I remember you posting this last year. I have attached my reply from then below, I don’t know the company in question or their work and will not slag them off, but it does appear to be down to excessively thick paint application or poor preparation generally, although without having the car in fr...

Re: Priming screen washer pump

You should only need the one in the bottle although 2 probably won't hurt, First thing would be to check that you have the valves the correct way round, hopefully there's arrows marked on the valves, If theres no arrows marked on the valves after a quick rince in some clean water try blowing and suc...

Extreme weather? What about vehicles that live in Cyprus or Saudi Arabia the don't suffer like this, faded paint yes and peeling lacquer yes due to Extreme heat but not what you have, It's easy to criticise another business from one's armchair but from what can be seen in the photo the small spots a...

Re: Ford N9 reversing light switch

I believe westfield the kit car people sell a type 9 plug on a tail of wire, thats assuming you have the two round pin type plug, I think the same connector was used on MK2 escort, capri, cortina, sierra, granada, so might be worth looking on ebay for one being broken, probably to old for ford to ha...

Re: Can You Retrofit a Split Screen?

If you are really want the appearance of a split screen on your car then instead of trying to find a split screen shell to cut up you could create your own, No not as silly as it sounds, it’s just steel so you could make the two halves of the screen surround and weld them in place of the curved surr...

Re: rear dampers (shock absorbers)

With no disrespects meant to your or anybody’s car it will make absolutely no difference other than costing you £50 more, There’s lots of talk of gas dampers being more responsive, better for prolonged driving, performance vehicles and fast driving etc, Whereas oil is generally considered to live lo...

Re: Painting Dashboard

Unfortunately I've been here several times. The fact the existing paint has cracked in places woul indicate it's very thick as you say. The fact it's not hard underneath (rolling into little balls) as you say means your not going to be putting your new paint over a good base. And some paints are jus...

Re: Wiper motor and heater fan / fuel gauge issue

First thing to look at would be earth connections, Not saying that’s the answer to all your problems but poor earth connections will give you lots of interesting electrical gremlins, Make sure all the earths are screwed/bolted to a good ground, it might be worth removing as many earths as you can fi...

Afternoon all, Not a plug for business although it will probably sound like one, We have been making replica police panda roof signs for several years now, The first units we made were film props, something we do quite a lot of, but we now provide the signs to owners of classic panda cars, museums a...

Re: Marina suspension adjustment

If your trying to set ride height there's a few basics to start from, 1, are the tyres the same make model size side to side, sounds daft but I've had customers cars with different brand tyres on each side and they are a different diameter, 2, tyre pressures are they identical? Side to side, differe...

Many years ago...... that's always a good start isn't it... Re: Marina suspension adjustment

As Phil says basically you have a Minor suspension setup that’s been modified, on the front you technically have two shock absorbers/dampers the original units that bolt onto the bulkhead cross member with the arm hanging out through the inner wing, which in turn connects to the suspension upright, ...

As far as I remember all marina vans and pickups came with 4 1/2" pcd compared with the saloon and estate on 3 3/4" pcd, Marina van/ pickup front hubs were often used with Morris Oxford/ Austin A60 back axles which are 4 1/2" pcd or toyota celica back axles which are again 4 1/2"...

Setting ride height can be a tricky one, I tried to lower my vans ride height a little bit a few years ago and this is how it ended up.. Think I might have over adjusted it..... that along with the 2" drop spindles, the 4 bar rear end and the Hydraulics, BTW it’s not a photo shopped picture, it...

Re: Front inner wing / Dome panel

In my experience its very rare that you need to replace the whole panel as often its only the flat face that joins the inner wing / A post and the bottom 1" where it joins the sill top that's rusted through, so normally I just replace those two sections, if these repairs are let into the origin...

Re: 2 MOT or not 2 MOT

So todays little Jem Morris came in for a service and a few odd jobs, there was no mention of the battery from the owner, but well.... yes that really is two pieces of twig holding the battery away from the bulkhead, the reason it appears is because theres no more thread to allow the clamp to tighte...
