Re: Rear view mirror
I guess you mean the later one with plastic housing and sucker to the screen. Mine did the same, in fact the whole housing disintegrated. I couldn't find a new one from any supplier (ESM has not had one for as long as I've been looking), so just replaced it with a polished chrome one which might not...

Re: Broken link
Thanks, no problem. I'm having trouble with the Traveller rear door stays. I've read all the posts I can find, but this link apparently contained some ideas on how to fix the issue.

Re: Traveller rear door hinge lock washers
No luck with Bull Motif, they only sell the whole repair kit.
It occurred to me I hadn't tried Moss Europe, part number is AAA1179, and amazingly, they have them.

Traveller rear door hinge lock washers
I purchased hinge repair kits for all four hinges, but somehow the internal tab on the lockwashers has got mangled (don't ask how, but the steel does seem very soft). Without the internal tab to locate in the bolt groove, the external tab does nothing, so the nuts could come loose on the bolt. I tho...

Re: Traveller rear door check plate
Thank for the ideas. I checked the eBay item but I couldn't be sure it would be any less worn than mine, and shipping takes an astonishing 2 months, acc. to seller (!!). Phil P, I'm not clear what you did, if you have a moment could you post a pic? I just thought about getting a welder to put a blob...

Traveller rear door check plate
Wondering if someone has advice for this small issue I've got. I'm not sure if this is the right name for the part, but I'm referring to the plate that is screwed to the waist rail capping. The stay bar passes through it. On my car, I've noticed one of the rear doors wasn't staying put when fully op...

Re: Traveller rear door hinge to pillar bolts
Thanks ManyMinors! I was afraid of that, but it's good to know I'm not adrift on the positioning... and thanks for the encouragement. This project has taken three years already, in fits and starts, but lately with cooler weather and COVID, it's accelerated a bit. Once it's all done, I have an idea t...

Traveller rear door hinge to pillar bolts
I've run into an issue fitting new rear doors. Before drilling any hinge holes, I offered up the doors to the frame, and gapped evenly all round, trimming a hair where necessary. Following the Haynes restoration guide, I drilled hinge bolt holes in the doors with the top hole 3" down from the i...

Re: ETHANOL CHANGES
We've had up to 10% ethanol in our gasoline for years now, in fact since 2007 by Federal mandate, although states have some additional flexibility in how much gets added. Classics like the Minor can certainly suffer problems from incompatibility of fuel systems with ethanol at this level. When I fir...

Re: Traveller Load Bay
Thanks for the replies! As contact adhesive is unforgiving, with only one chance to get it positioned right, I've thought a bit more about this. The sewed seam on the wheel arch pieces is quite thick, and I realized it's important to have it lying flat in only one direction so that from the top, the...

Traveller Load Bay
I'm about to install new Hardura in my '68 Traveller. Material came from ESM, I believe Newton Commercial. The wheel arch pieces look far thicker than the old stuff I removed. To get them to go down smooth without leaving wrinkles, I think I'll need to glue them down using contact adhesive. I can't ...

Re: Fuel tank sender unit
Problem solved! I checked the sender and wiring back to the dash were OK by earthing the sender body, and raising the float arm to the max. Gauge moved slowly to max. :D Tank full, and sender back in, no response on gauge. I loosened some of the screws holding the tank down, scratched the paint off ...

Re: Fuel tank sender unit
Thanks for the prompt replies, y'all ! OK, so point 1 is that I will check the wiring as John suggests. Did not think of that. Point 2, DUH, now I realize the cork gasket doesn't insulate as the screws will make the connection. But by the same token, surely the screws holding the tank down would als...

Fuel tank sender unit
On my '68 Traveller I've replaced both the fuel tank and the sender unit, as both were in bad shape, the sender unit was completely seized up. Also have a new wiring harness installed, hopefully with all the right connections made. Now I can't get a response from the fuel gauge. I took the sender un...
