Re: 803 cc oil filter
The ebay (BULL MOTIF) 803cc oil filter coded GFE107 looks just like the other oil filters I have purchased directly from this Company. The size IN (for want of a better term or the white plastic insert), suggests a little larger than 2mm but not as great as 2.5mm so, too large by the article. My met...

Re: 803 cc oil filter
If you find it great. In the mean time, I will replace the oil switch and setup my smiths oil gauge.
Thanks for your help.

Re: 803 cc oil filter
Thank you Declan. Is this simple restrictor available in the UK? How long ago was this and have there been any more reliable oil filters from the major spare part suppliers since this was known? Which make of filters should be avoided. It is very important to me to keep my 803 cc engine going as it'...

Re: 803 cc oil filter
Thanks for the link Phil and for all your replies. I will lookout for a retaining clip. As I said it is the original 803 cc engine but I think why I wondered about the fitting of the filter was that the oil light sometimes comes on with a hot engine on a slow tick over and I thought maybe the oil fi...

803 cc oil filter
P1030122.JPG 803 cc Oil Filter. Someone has fitted an Alternator to my 1955 Series 11 original 803 cc engine. Something I would not have done myself however, what concerns me is the engine oil filter. This is a screw-in type, which, simply screws into the engine block with a rubber-type washer. The...

Re: I found a small screw
Well I agree it should not be there. I have wondered if someone placed it there to reduce fuel flow from the pump.
We will never know but as always thank you for your input.

I found a small screw
I am about to rebuild my H1 carburettor with a new major rebuild kit. It’s the large brass bolt that holds the bowl to the body that concerns me. I found a small screw with washer that is a push fit (no thread) that sits inside the bolt as shown on the photo. Why should this be needed ? burlen.co.uk...

Re: hit reverse gear on occasion
Just to put you in the picture, the gearbox was sold to me as an 803 box and after fitting it, I was very pleased with it apart from this problem “hit reverse gear” I assumed this is what they did until myoldjalopy’s reply that it should not happen and I think now it must be a 948 box with an 803 ba...

Re: hit reverse gear on occasion
There is no STOP on my box when going across into reverse and as a result it makes me nervous. I am pretty confident it’s a 803 box but it could be possible that my reverse leaver is missing that PIN that requires you to lift the gear stick. I will take the stick off and see if I can see it. I think...

Re: MA-U-H 180898 engine
I will study this thank you. Out of eight rockers four rock on the rocker, the others seem ok. The rocker shaft is probably worn out so I will take it apart to see what’s going on. I will also take a look at the valves and guides and decide what to do now I know it’s a normal 1098 head. Well d...

hit reverse gear on occasion
My 803 engine and gear box are running very well and I am not bothered about going more than 50mph in my 4 door series 2 but, I have been known to hit reverse gear on occasion which I really hate doing. I have read about a mod. by T.K. Marshall by welding in a step of metal so that to select reverse...

Re: MA-U-H 180898 engine
That was helpful thank you, they all have the same “2” marked on each piston and there is little sign of wear but the head shows a lot of wear in that three of the rockers have probably 3-4mm side movement that suggests its done a few miles. The block is painted Gold while the head is, well no colou...

MA-U-H 180898 engine
I have a spare engine and the id plate says 10 MA-U-H 180898. I understand this is a high compression engine. The markings on the piston tops are m2007 mowog N38 and both the pistons and block are marked 2 (Assume means standard size) The head has 23453 12G202 MOWOG and the number 4 and letter B wri...
