Just to close this off, I spent a lot of time chasing down part numbers and cross references with no joy at all. Eventually I found a triumph specialist nearby where I could get a direct comparison to some TR shocks that will do the job.

Yes, just waiting on the sizes of some Triumph 1300TC dampers. I don't think I have Herald /Spitfire ones as there's no fitting for the coil spring.
Nothing on Carbuilders but they have something else I need so good suggestion.

I've only found one type/grade of metalastic bush and it has lasted many years. There seems to be a few varieties of poly bushes. Some I have used have lasted very well (superflex?), others have been poor.

Credit to you, that's not a job I would be brave enough to attempt.
I did notice on a 55 plate Polo service record that a cam belt change had never been done. When queried was told it had a chain not a belt. Wonder if chains are coming back?

That arrangement served well but the relative is giving up driving and garaging for the car. It was only used to transport them to me and back with me as the driver. It will come to live with me as I have now found out that the insurance will be much cheaper as well.
