Split screen windscreen replacement

I'm about to replace the screen on my series II - has anyone got any tips? I see from the manual that I have to make up a dummy centre pillar - is this strictly necessary? Any help gratefully received.

Thanks, everyone, I've ordered 5 "Camac" 145R14s from Bull Motif - the cost of getting them here is astronomical!

Which size radial?

I'm going to replace the 5.20/14 cross-plys on my 1954 series ll with radials - should I go for the 145SR14 or 155SR14 sizes? Assuming I can get them in Northern Ireland, that is!

I'm waiting for JDO to get back to me, but his answering machine's mailbox is full, his mobile switched off and no reply from his e mail. I'll just have to be patient I suppose.........

The trouble is, a 948 speedo would only come in the large centre mounted type, I think, mine is the smaller one, mounted in front of the driver!

I think I may do what racer suggested, I'm waiting for a quote. At least then I would be sure it was accurate in these times of speed cameras and points!

Series ll speedo

When I acquired my '54 series ll, the engine and gearbox had been changed for a 948cc unit. This must have a different ratio for the pick up from the gearbox because the speedo had been modified to take the innards from a later minor (central speedo). This meant that a hole had to be cut in the face...

Many thanks, all. When the sun finally came out I lubricated the hood frame joints with a teflon based oil, wiped it off carefully, and now I can raise the frame easily from inside the car.

Oh! is that rain I can feel......

Thanks very much, as soon as it stops raining I'll try that. I think my hood frame is quite stiff and doesn't go easily in to the flat position. If I could find the button Willie's talking about, I'd gladly use it!

Convertible hood

Does anyone know of a good technique for erecting the hood single handed..I always have to rush from side to side in a demented fashion, squeezing the frame until it fits!

Series II dash colour

Does anyone know the correct colour for the glovebox lids and steering wheel boss on a 1954 series II? I believe there is a Ford colour which is a close match?
