fitting gearbox to A-series engine

hi, im trying to find a suitable 5 speed box to fit to a 1275 A-seies engine. the ford type 9 is a bit thin on the ground unless you dont mind spending £600-700, so i am looking at other possibilities. fiat 131 gearbox, - will it fit on with a bit of knowhow i have also found for sale a mazda mx5 5 ...

i know this doesnt have alot to do with the above but will a morris marina gearbox fit on an mg midget engine because the gearboxes look so incredibly alike

is it easy? has it been done?

im just wandering whether its worth the bother to get the midget brakes on the back

if it can be done easy, will i also need a midget propshaft?

is there any fwd cars that have engines that you can put a rwd gearbox on a stick it in a morris because my local scrappy has an endless supply of fwd cars and that would be the easiest option for me.

next time dont use any of the cement specially designed for this job they take a long time to set and are too expensive. plastic padding does a fantastic fibreglass paste that i have used on dozens of holes in radiators and it has never failed me. plus it sets in minuits and lasts for decades

i have a morris that was driven by a friend for about 15-20 mins with no oil in engine or gearbox. it does still go but my guess is that it will die soon ive been told that all the white metal will have come off and it is the equivalent driving 100,000 miles. and i would like to see some other peopl...

yes kirstmin there is always a spark.

cust in case it helps, i will tell you when it stopped working, it was working fine its just i was driving it aroung when the car just stopped dead and rolled to a stop then when i tried it there was no spark
