Re: Fiat Argenta sump in Morris Minor ?
I got an Argenta sump and pump for my Lancia engine in my Minor back in the day. The Lancia engine was originally canted over in the Beta so sump and pump were at wrong angle.

Wow I don't even remember starting this thread 17 years ago
I never had a Traveller but get curious about things. Such as, how can one tell if wood is oak? Is it purely visual inspection or are there other more scientific techniques?

Yes, many years ago. Check that the oil pick-up in the sump is still suitable. Eg not angled or at the wrong height.

2025 National Rally
Hi,
I'm probably being stupid but I can't find any information on this year's National. Does anyone know when/where it is?
Thanks

Re: Rear lights alloy blocks
I've never found any of these substances to be particularly good at taking a thread and holding it. Better to either use the material to hold a metal threaded sleeve or nut. Or a threaded bar with a nut embedded in the stuff if you need a male thread sticking out.

Re: depressed, or not?
FWIW if I depress the clutch on my 948cc Midget (Ie same engine give or take) It's more reluctant to start first thing. Always thought depressing the clutch made engines spin faster so more likely to start. On my Midget the engine does spin faster but doesn't catch as easily as when not depressing t...

Re: The 2 different Shades of Trafalgar Blue
More and more places can scan your car and mix aerosols to exactly match. A boon if you're just painting a small part. I know of one on Canvey island and another in Watford. I can look up addresses if either of those aren't too far from you.

No sure if they were the ESM ones but I had a set and they were fit and forget. Not quite as bright as chrome but no worrying about pitting.

Re: stainless window frames what model?
Probably an answer to a question that wasn't asked but I always found the quarter lights that were not stainless steel rusted but the rest of the frames were fine. I changed out to stainless quarter lights in standard frames to solve the problem.

Most welding is actually measuring, cutting, preparing, measuring again and grinding.

Re: How many of you can weld, and how did you learn?
I watched a _lot_ of youtube videos on mig welding bodywork. I also went on a welding course covering MMA, mig, Tig and gas. But the videos and practice on scrap would be enough. Main problem I have is being disciplined to go very slowly and letting the metal cool down.

I know it is possible but I can't remember how since I did it many years ago and no longer have my Minor See the attached image which I think is for a Mini or Marina 2 speed wiper which I used some years ago. By trial and error work out which connectors connect at positions 0, 1 and 2 for a spare li...

Re: Any Volvo 240 owners here?
My dad had a 244 when they were new or nearly new and stuck with Volvos for the rest of his life. Most were the 260/760 with 6 cylinder engine and from memory the injection system started to play up after 2 years on most. I've heard than the 4 cylinders were much more reliable than 6 cylinders. 4 cy...

Re: Fiat twin cam advice please
I found a Davis Craig electric water pump (I believe made on Australia) plus electric fans extremely effective on keeping my 2.0 Minor cool in all (English) weathers. Big question long term is parts. If everything has to be imported round the world it could be pricy. To that end are there many Ladas...

Re: Electric Morris Minor
Just to be out there but what if you just send the V5 to DVLA with a change to cc=0, fuel =electric engine number = whatever. Does the V5 come back with historic status lost? If so, does that require a change of numberplate to Q? Do you have to pay road tax? If you make a cradle that uses the origin...

Curious to learn more about fused earth.
Anyhow,
if you're planning to have a remote oil filter, it's a small step to adding an oil cooler into the mix a the same time.
