Keep an eye out for an unleaded 998 Mini head - They do turn up sometimes, and shou;dn't cost a vast amount. Inlet valves are slightly smaller than the 1098 Minor head I think, but compression ratio is higher, which I suspect makes it no less powerful, and maybe a little more economical

The Marina box is the Triumph one, isn't it? Aside from the stalling issues (maybe forcing the pressure plate, and so flywheel and crank too hard at the thrust bearings?), these suffer from too much play in the pivot pin for the clutch fork.. As long as the surfaces are clean before assembly, and there's plenty of paste applied, those clamps should hold for a while, even though they're not ideal. Midget engine is easiest, all this talk of changing flywheels has never made much sense to me, as they use the same gearbox input shaft (in fact, aside from some beefed up internals, same gearbox!), and just slot into place. When I removed and replaced Puddles' engine I used a trolly jack and lifted it up clear of the engine mounts. Then heaved it over the front cross member... Define split. It's possible to have a small tear and still have some fuel make it to the carb, although you'd almost certainly notice a drop in power through fuel starvation.
