Great story. I once used mine for a teenagers prom, and my own wedding.
Yours makes my old one look like a pile of scrap though. Beautiful car, love the white seats and piping.

Not mine, I cant claim credit unfortunately.
You may be able to find out from the photo information, if 'Flickr' preserves and/or lists this somewhere.
There's a heck of a lot there though!

Why oh why did they stop using duo-tone?

Is this like the old 'Tiger Tokens' scheme?
1 gazillion tokens = a crystal glass.
2 gazillion tokens = a teddy bear.
lol

Re: Unlocking a mobile phone
Given the change in public attitudes toward this practice I would even suggest taking it to an Orange store and asking them to unlock it. I've heard a few stories of people doing the same with other operators and them doing it Free Of Charge as a goodwill gesture. The days or locking down and even '...

Great engineering project. Shame theres no way they can use the hull or 'wipe down and refit' it.
I guess its not structurally sound now having been part submerged all this time.

Good luck!
Its the bodywork thats the hard part.
Electrical and mechanical parts can be simply swapped in/out but bodywork... grrr... fingers crossed you dont end up chasing rot with your welder.

What age/model is it? Have you tried any trouble shooting? Checking the dizzy cap for burnt contacts? Checking the master lead from starter to dizzy? etc.. If you're near Trowbridge I could come take a look. I'm no expert by any means but i've got a few tools from my Minor days and got the tester eq...

I'd love a convertible. Id be doing these things 'for the journey'. Stopping in villages along the way, eating scones* .. just being British for a bit.

Re: MG midget engine?
Never heard of any issues with stat housing before. Dont recal if I just used my 1098 one or the 1275 one. Either way had no issues. Top hose is bendy enough. The heater tap is a bit of a pain. I just knotched my battery tray so I could keep the 1275 one. I wrote a whole guide on the conversion some...

Thats a long way! I've only been as far north as Bedford in mine... you know, where they make the Astra vans.. LOL
Was a horrible drive though, went M25/A1 and ended up taking 6 hours to get back in the pouring rain with the dog and misses for company.

Re: Poor Quality Parts - Please report your experience
I've had issues with brake cylinders myself - namely the threads pulling out when I've done up either the nipples or hoses. Now I understand mechanical sympathy so I'm not going king-kong on my spanners. This sadly seems to be an issue with generic cheap pattern parts. I simply bought replacements a...

Gotta get a Ford mention in. Kent xflow. The 1600 XR2 was a joy to drive, no doubt the rwd escorts even more so! The Valencia/HCS/endura lump gets a point for stoicism too. They sound like a biscuit tin full of spanners at the best of time but will go on forever getting smokier and more rattly but n...

Re: Parts Supplier - Not Happy!
Makes sense. A mate builds GRP boats and they're constantly having to fix/re-finish the moulds due to damage during use. Same concept I guess. Everything wears eventually - even a massive steel die/press tool. I wander if they have chaps in Sri Lanka or wherever regularly checking tolerances and wha...

Re: How to tell the difference between a 1098cc and...
A good price! Also, what should I be looking for when buying an engine that's already been removed from a car to make sure it's all okay?
Seriously, not sure you can tell big stuff like main bearings etc.. without actually running it up.
Anything else is likely to be easily fixable anyway.

Must have been nearly 2 years ago now. :o 1968 2 door. Old English White (or whatever the cream colour paint of the period was?) Chap had it collected from Weymouth where I was living at the time. Was a member on here who was already building another iirc. Was just kinda hoping he'd spot this and re...

It used to take all my strength and a flat screwdriver to get mine off - I used to wish they'd did come off easily!
You using the right caps and wheels?
