Re: Rattling from Water Pump?
Thanks all. I've got an alternator, so it can't be a dynamo issue. It does sound like a bearing rattling around which is why it was suspected it might be the water pump. I'll pass these posts onto my mechanic and suggest the timing chain is looked at too.

Rattling from Water Pump?
Hi all, My 1958 Morris has a rattle coming from under the bonnet; at first I thought it might have been from the heating unit under the dashboard, as whilst I'm sat behind the wheel it sounded like it was coming from right in front of me. However, I managed to film the sound when the car was stopped...

Ignition Light Flickering
Hi all, This morning whilst driving to work (doing about 60mph), the ignition light came on, and stayed on. I pulled out the choke once I was at the traffic lights, but the light remained on. Then as I set off again, it turned off. A minute or so later the light had a very faint flicker for a while;...

Re: MOT
Thanks Kennatt. However, the V11 tax reminder says "This vehicle needs an appropriate MOT test certificate", which is why I had to take it to the Post Office with a V112 so that they could override it - the online system wouldn't let me complete the tax process because it couldn't find a n...

MOT
Hi everyone, I have a 1958 Morris, which is MOT exempt (being pre-1960). When I bought it last September I asked the new owner to MOT it first so that I'd know it was up to scratch, and after purchasing I had no problems in completing the online tax form for it (even though it's £0, you obviously st...

Re: Engine Sounds
Many thanks to you both for the quick responses - glad to hear that the consensus view is that the noises are quite normal (especially the fuel pump clicking away so quickly, I was worried that it was struggling to pump petrol and I'd end up stalling in the middle of a journey!) Just to put minds at...

Engine Sounds
Hi everyone, I bought my Morris 1000 back in September, and although it can be a labour of love at times, I'm thrilled at my purchase and very glad that I made it (especially during weather as we're having this week, with it being a post-production convertible!). I'm very much an amateur when it com...
