Did you replace the rocker cover? It will run rough without the cover if you have a pcv valve.

If its 180 deg out fit as usual and plug the leads in on the opposite side of the cap

What about on a bike, the head and barrels are the the top the crank and ends is the bottom.

Sounds as if you have attached the choke cable to the wrong side of the lever on the carburettor

Some people (myself included) have found that new brake shoes are slightly smaller than the original. I have increased the length of the shoes by adding a run of weld to the edge then filing down so that its the correct shape. Don't top up to the top of the rad, just top up to about 1 inch above the radiator core, the room left above the water acts as the expansion tank. This allows for the expansion of the coolant.

Leave the dipstick alone.
The oil filler cap should be vented, it is available from ESM.
You don't need a pcv in the tube, the carb was designed so that one isn't needed.
You could look for a rocker cover that doesn't have a breather tube.

When I stripped mine down I found that the bushes were okay but the spindle was worn.

If you overfill it the excess oil will leak out of the gaiters anyway.

Have a phone round any local engineer shops, I use Dave Rushton in stoke on Trent, hardened valve seats and the valves recut was about £250.
