Actually,
Your MK2 Cavalier looks really nice! They are very rare now and I bet the CD, like yours, is even rarer.
Why not make your Cavalier a minter??

I would say not. Strip it of any useful bits and get a better one.

I had the same problem.I must admit that I didn't have time to do a proper job so I used a couple of self tappers and a large dollop of filler. I had already decided to sell the car on so I wasn't really all that bothered about it.You can hide some bodges very well :D Once you start working on a Mog...

I have adjusted my tickover so that the red light doesn't show at all. It's a personal preference though.I also run mine slightly rich with the timing marginally advanced.
It starts first time every time and pulls like a train, especially after a 300 mile motorway run yesterday

Cheers,
Ian

Don't bother. It will distort the shell.Have it etch primed electrostatically if you can.

The best descaler I have ever found,is Stop Bath which is used in photography to neutralise the developer. Go to Jessops and buy a couple of bottles of their own stuff.Add it to boiling water from your kettle or mix it 75% water 25% stop bath and boil it up.It will almost instantly descale your kett...

Your best bet would be to find out the frequency range that's going to be used in your country.A 1/4 wave or 1/2 wave would be your best option.A 1/4 wave on FM broadcast would be about 80cm long.anything any longer would not be beneficial.

I thought about this. The sender is positive and the stabiliser is positive too.I just assumed it wouldn't work?

Fitting a temperature gauge. It read far too high.A solution!

Hi all, I recently bought a Smiths reproduction temperature gauge from ESM. It's a superb bit of kit and it looks just right in my Minor,as you'd expect it to. I fitted the sender to the head after removing the 3/4 inch bolt that sits just beneath the thermostat housing. My car is still positive ear...

I've just had look behind the speedo. There is a black wire not going to anything. The wiper switch switches the negative "live" side of the wiper motor. I am totally confused by this.I'll check the earth connections this evening. Thanks for your help. Ian  It turns out that the bla...

RE: Wiper and heater blower dead??

Well I don't know what happened there! Here we go again. I am totally vexed by the fault my Moggy has decided to "test" me with today.I have no wipers or heater blower, everything else is fine. All 3 fuses are fine but I cleaned them up as a part of my fault finding process. After a lot of mes...

I generally use leaded 4* but if I'm away from home,I use Castrol Valvemaster plus and any brand of 95 RON petrol. The only thing I've noticed is thet the engine runs a tad hotter and isn't quite as smooth as normal.I would think that a small timing adjustment would take care of that though :) Cheer...

My heater was pants until I flushed the entire cooling system. It's now very good! You really do need an 88 degree thermostat to obtain maximum efficiency though.

Possible fault?.......

Hi all, I have noticed that the first time I use my brakes, after my Moggy has stood for a few hours, the pedal almost goes down to the floor but the brakes work. The brakes are then fine with the usual amount of pedal travel. I can only assume that it's something related to expansion and contraction...

I agree with Cam that brake fade can be a problem. I tend to do most driving around town or on the A500 where I tend to pootle along at 55mph anyway as I like to show my car a degree of mechanical sympathy. My worst problem is the dodgy Korean crossplies fitted by a previous owner which skate around...

Hi Angie, From my limited experience they are always a bit on the short side but your window should not rattle. I always fit them from the top of the channel which leaves a small gap at the bottom. If you ever find that one is missing, check inside the bottom of the door before you order a new one. ...
