Fwedy, thanks for the reply. Other problems? well, good floorpan wings etc. No problems with mot. But I think it has had the sills repaired with panels at some time and the rear inner wing (wheelarch). As a result the rear passenger side door is badly misaligned and lets in air around the gaps. The ...

Yes Chris, little traces of rust around the bottom of the guttering. I'd wondered if it was causing some of the drips which collect on the door tops (leaks in the guttering welds I mean). So what can I do? Expensive?

Will my roof fall off!

My minor looks pretty tatty around the roof area. The paint is scratched and the guttering is "tidied up" with filler. there is a little rust and paint chipping inside the roof (4 door), I think mainly caused by slamming doors. None of the manuals mentions, but can a roof rust through and ...

A road test of a scooby turbo I read once said it needed a sticker on the sun visor saying "i am not god, slow down!" I don't need a radio in the minor because the car is entertaining even at low speed.

I read similar comments from restorers of MGB cars in another magazine. It seems that people want the job jone as cheaply as possible and the quality of the parts reflects this. I suppose if someone offers premium parts (as long as they really are premium quality) we may have to pay the price.

Oops forgot to add- car is 1098 (1969) with an unleaded head, and the system would be the magnetronic system as advertised in minor monthly.

electronic ignition with a dynamo

I would like to fit electronic ignition (lumenition) to my car mainly for reliability(i am not a mechanic by nature). Sorry if these are stupid questions but 1. will electronic ignition work with a dynamo (negative earth, well serviced with new battery) and 2 can I still use the starting handle. It ...

thank you kievi. BTW my "heart" has gone for the cardboard types. The cream card will look better in the open box on the drivers side. with it removed there is a black hole effect and the fibreglass one would be similar

Well, the only reason would be drips! My last gloveboxes let water drip through them (cardboard). I have of course fixed the leak first!

which type of glovebox.

iIhave removed both my glovebox linings(1969 model). They are in need of replacement. Which is better, the original type or the new fibreglass ones. They cost about the same. Any opinions welcome. Thanks.

they do fit on the main window channel. I fitted one but was not impressed. they sit too far back from the view of the driver. Maybe it would be ok if I was taller i,m 5'7 as then you would be further back from the mirror. good luck anyway!

This might seem a stupid question, but are the seals themselves capable of keeping the water out. By this I mean, how tight a fit do they need to be before they are watertight. Do you wan't the door to feel springy against the seal. Thanks for your reply Willie BTW :)

I know they all leak, but still....

I know all minors leak a bit. I have a 4dr and it is pouring here (N ireland). When I got home 3 doors had leaked a little. The water seems to be gathering along the door tops (stainless steel part) and then slowly dripping into the car. The front doors at least fit fairly well and have new push on ...
