Re: Reconditioned rear dampers OR Telescopic damper conversion kit ?
Hello I have the telescopics on the rear of a saloon. Were a great improvement when fitted. I have a kit from a long gone trader which used a lower mounting the same as the van/pickup which gives more ground clearance than the ESM version. I recommend changing the fronts as well for the best ride. A...

Re: 100k on the clock
Hi Suzanne On Sunday 16th July if you haven't been before, there is a classic car meet on Southend sea front opposite the Kurzall. There are usually Minors there including mine, worth chatting with the owners for advice and info on using and maintaining them. Cars arrive from 8am and leave from abou...

Re: First Minor. Daily drive - winter advice request
The clutch plate for the 1098 is 7.25" diameter. The 1098 pressure plate is considerably deeper the the 948 one. 948 is 6.25" diameter. For the 1098 box you need flywheel, clutch, clutch fork and bearing all for the 1098. Even on a 948 engine. I'm not sure how you were able to even select ...

Re: First Minor. Daily drive - winter advice request
Hi Oli The ribbed gearbox is the 1098cc one. The skinny! Clutch is 948cc. I fitted a 1098 box with 948 clutch and it wouldn't disengage properly. You need to match the clutch and flywheel to the gearbox. If you can put some photos up showing the various parts you have we can see what you'll need to ...

Re: Replacing wheel cylinders
I've had this scenario several times on Minor brakes. Could be the master cylinder. Check and make sure all connections are dry and no leaks. The only way I found to get the air out was: Fill master cylinder to normal level and replace cap. Get an assistant to pump the pedal several times until firm...

Re: Four Door Saloon
Hi dp sent you a DM Just to add to this, many years ago (more than 9) I was talking to two people at the National and my wife joined in the conversation. Then the next day She saw them again and invited them in to our food tent for tea or coffee and put our water container onto a peg and broke it. S...

Re: Four Door Saloon
The 4 doors being less sought after than 2 door cars seems to been the case with vehicles in general. Those that wanted a sportier looking style car wanted a 2 door eg MK3 Escort pop 2 door modified to look like a XR3. I've had 3, 4 door Minors, not out of choice just what came up, there were consid...

Re: Front hub bearings "UPDATE"
After reading this and having problems with play on the front wheel after replacing the bearings from a known source, the bearings are available from Heritage Car Parts with the inner one with a greater radius to fit the stub axle.
Fitted perfectly and now without play. £45 delivered though.

Re: electronic ignition kit
I have fitted a couple of these. Engine runs alot smoother and more responsive. On the 1098cc i fitted a 45d for mini with gold coil. Once fitted and timed up they are practilcly fit and forget. You need Neg earth. if not already been changed.

Re: Yet another wheel cylinder goes pop!
Hi interesting post here. I've have the same pattern cylinders on mine for several years. With no problems. 1st I always dismantle the cylinders and wash out with meths as this does not damage the rubber seals. I've have found swarf in many cylinders in the past of different types. 2nd reassemble us...
