According to the 1971 Borg and Beck (AP) application list this is the correct release bearing for the 1098cc Minor. It doesn't list the 948cc so unable to cross reference it for you! Hope this helps.

I have that tourer but mine's a 1949! No rust, never welded but the rest of it hasn't aged so well!

Steve, I take it you still have all the original splitscreen wiper gear in place? If so then turning the wheelbox spindle may help slightly in an extreme case but i doubt you will notice the difference as its the drive cable that wears the most! What i have had to do on all my splitscreens is change...
