Re: Traveller misfire.

I'd suspect electrical.
Just for starters, being as it's nasty rainy season, give the ht leads a spray with wd40 or damp start type stuff, I had a motor once that was fine if you did and simply didn't want to know if you didn't !
I was too mean to buy a new set of ht leads !

Re: Teach an old cat new tricks.

Good man for rescuing him ! We've got one that was one of a litter born under a car at my friend's breaker's yard, he looks just like the pic of your one! With the breaker's yard moggies, we trapped the lot of 'em ,including the mum, and all are now in good homes. Trapping them was a test of ingenui...

Re: Recommended wheel cylinders

Yes I've had rubbish pattern brake and particularly clutch cylinders fail on land rovers too. I've replaced flex hoses on the moggy as they were shredded and made up a couple of kunifer pipes as the fronts were nearly rusted through! I want to do a set of decent wheel cylinders whilst I'm in brakes ...

Re: Recommended wheel cylinders

Series land rovers, guilty as charged ! I assume the moggy situation is similar with much rubbish pattern part stuff available. I haven't noticed any brake parts advertised that say Lockheed, and much no name stuff seems to be in evidence. What is a good supplier that has genuine parts ? The likes o...

Recommended wheel cylinders

What 'brand' brake slave (wheel) cylinders do folk recommend ?
I've come across real rubbish britpart and similar stuff in a previous life, so what's the best moggy brake stuff and who best to buy it from ?

Trouble is, I'll probably end up spending a tenner in petrol driving round looking for these 99p offers !

Re: When grinding, wear eye protection

I hate to admit but I'm one of those annoying geezers that swings chainsaws about wearing shorts , t shirt & bare feet  Having said that I've had grinding bits in my eye on a couple of occasions, needing a&e, one went for a number of days feeling like grit in the corner of the eye, it ...

Re: Smart Phones at the wheel still today!!!

I must confess years ago to driving round drinking a bottle of chocolate milk in steering wheel hand , unfortunately someone pulled out in front of me, I had to take evasive action consequently hurling an arc of chocolate milk all over the windscreen, rendering it somewhat opaque... oops

Re: Black primer

I take your point, I was hoping to simply be able to blow some primer on that I could subsequently rub down and go over with a final coat later on, I wanted black to make the motor less of a patchwork. I was trying to find a decent one that would serve until then. I wasn't aware primers were porous ...

18 was amazing for a big dog, if it wasn't a chap I know well who's dog it was I wouldn't have believed him tbh!
Great pic of your boy, there should perhaps be a special thread 'show us your dogs'[frame]Image[/frame]

Re: Seam Sealer ?

Hope it works for you, it is good stuff, I was attempting to paint over it with Tractol enamel which it didn't like, again as mentioned above I probably didn't prep it
It could well be fine with whatever paint you're going to use.

Re: speedo needle bounce

I'll look for the Speedo tutorial, I've successfully got a few old clocks working again so should be similarities, I can hear clicking so assume that's the mech trying to operate the milometer against whatever is stopping it.

Re: Bangernomics.

I think most of their brains have been eaten already, I've given up trying to teach 'yoofs' anything useful I'm afraid. Such a shame about the rotty, I've known a few and they're always so nice as people if you see what I mean. Incredibly enough a chap I know had one that lived to be 18 ! I kid you ...

Re: Seam Sealer ?

I've used tiger seal on various old motors and it sticks very well, the only snag I found is that paint didn't like it, it wouldn't dry and stayed sticky. ..in the context I last used it for, footwells in an old Landrover, it didn't really matter but if you need to paint over it, beware. Shame as it...

I wonder if there's a tutorial that someone's put on here covering Speedo stripdown and rebuild, mine could do with attention too, milometer not working, maybe a kind forum veteran could show a link..

Re: Bangernomics.

Most of the kids I see are solely interested in exercising their thumbs on some stupid little computer or text thing. I tried to show the son of a mate how to fix a bike tyre puncture recently, he viewed the process with a 'yeah whatever' disdain, eager to get back to his i thingy, Glad that some id...
