1963 4-door saloon for sale - south Norfolk.

Sadly, it has become necessary to sell my 1963 Morris Minor 4-door saloon. I already have a Traveller I'm restoring in the garage and it has meant that this one has had to be outside, and it is not the ideal place to work on cars! I bought this one in 2010 and ran it for a few years before some weld...

Re: Traveller rear doors key number

It was registered February 1968, so yes, I believe you're right. Thanks.

Traveller rear doors key number

My Traveller project came without keys, and although I knew that the number is usually stamped on the handle shaft, which it appears to be, I am slightly puzzled for two reasons; 1) one side is stamped with NF but I thought most Minor keys started with FS or FP, and 2) the number on the other side c...

Re: Where is JFK 645

Looks like it might be in the Stourport upon Severn, Worcs region, where it was photographed in 2018. See this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/45676495@N05/51851127262 - you might be able to contact the photographer and ask the exact location.

948cc engine for sale in South Norfolk

948cc engine for sale in south Norfolk. Mostly complete. This came with a Minor I bought 14 years ago as a spare, and has been dry stored ever since. Located in South Norfolk (NR15 area). Obviously used, but no scoring or rust in the cylinders and turns nicely. The last photo (box of assorted items)...

Re: What happened to my Morris Minor Traveller?

Very likely to have been scrapped by now, but it is worth seeing if you can find the exact registration plate number...just in case.

Minor in the news!

Just saw this on the ITV News page. A reminder that a Morris Minor is for life, not just for passing your test in! https://www.itv.com/news/meridian/2023- ... -years-ago

Thanks for posting that pic, David, it's good to see it 'in action', small though it is.

Re: Pickup restoration part three

Excellent! That's good to see. Also nice to know that a tiny bit of my long-since-scrapped first Minor lives on in your pickup - the little switch under the dashboard which turns off/on the speedo light!

A lot of the original images are still in Google's cache, abeit in a smaller format, but useful nonetheless. Just Google "rose taupe traveller restoration" complete with quotes and then click on the Images tab to see them.

Re: New Restoration Projects Section

I think you might have a very difficult time on your hands if you're going to attempt to weld panels with an arc welder - it would take a very skilled welder indeed to make a decent job of that. Best to pick up a MIG welder (don't buy a SIP Turbo MIG - it will let you down again and again!), somethi...

Re: Remember the scrappage scheme?

Yes, I remember at the time seeing several ads for Minors at inflated prices and in the description "If not sold then it will go into the scrappage scheme", which is just another way of saying 'give me three times what the car is worth or the Minor gets it'. Shameful.

Perhaps people have been raiding them at night. It certainly looks like some have been done. What a waste though.

Remember the scrappage scheme?

I've just found this video filmed last year of hundreds of cars accepted under the scrappage scheme back in 2009/10. They still exist! I counted at least ten Minors, including a pickup.

Rust prevention with..linseed oil?!!!

I've just seen this article about how good linseed oil is for preserving steel railway bridges. Has anyone ever tried it on their Morris? I'm thinking of giving it a go!

Re: Rollover jig question

I have removed the engine and I will be taking all four doors off (a considerable weight!) and the gearbox but will leave the rear axle on, I think.
