I don't have an Alta head but I have a Mazengarb ohv conversion which I would like to reproduce somehow. It is a cast steel head .Any suggestions of someone capable ? I do have an early Lolite with the copper lower pipe , will check in shed to see if I have a steel one as a spare.

Is your front grill one piece of steel wholly with the front panel, or does the grill separate from the metal front panel? Some lowlites had all steel front painted panel usually colour of car though I have seen some with the grill part painted off white or a grey colour , which looked original type...
