Re: front wheel bearings
They are from Bearing-King.co.uk. Seemed to have good prices on the bearings recommended here, although I did go with the cheaper BEP bearings. Looking at the data sheets for both couldn't really see how the Minor would require the higher spec bearings. Search for 212137031 on their web site and it ...

Re: Rear Leaf Springs
Yes, I am watching that clutch kit on eBay. The problem with my clutch kit was that as the pressure plate cover was tightened down, equally on each nut, the springs holding the centre bearing kept coming of. They did not locate correctly on the cover. I got fed of this and did indeed reuse the origi...

Rear Leaf Springs
Hi, I am thinking about replacing my rear springs and bushes on my 1957 2 door saloon. The car has I suspect its original 7 leaf springs fitted and after 60yrs of use are a bit on the flat side. There is at most a 1cm of clearance between the bump stop and the body.# It seems that a few years ago th...

Testing remote brake servo
Hi, I have been having trouble not being able to get the idling speed down on my rebuilt 1098 engine. So go looking for air leaks. Anyway, have a remote brake servo that I'm not completely convinced is working the way that it should. If I disconnect the servo vacuum pipe and plug the hole in the inl...

Headlining, sort of?
Hi, I have a 2 door saloon and at the back, under the window inside, there is a strip of hardboard which is covered in the same material as the headlining. This is in poor shape, although the headlining is actually ok. I have looked online for this but have found no mention of it. Is this a standard...

Engine and gearbox mounting rubbers
Hi, can anyone tell me if these mounts have had there day and need replacing please? I know that there has been some discussion as to whether replacement parts are too hard and may cause some vibration. Has this issue now been sorted and where is the best place to purchase good, softer parts? On ano...

Expert knowledge required
So that's why its been smoking so much :o Currently rebuilding a replacement for this engine, but considering using the existing cylinder head. Is there any reason that there would be so much oil around the back two head studs, other than the fa\ct that I have just removed the cylinder head. Is it p...

Re: Piston Rings
I have sent ESM photos of my original piston rings. Cant say for certain but I do believe that these are the original factory fitted rings. Has no one come across them before?
Do you think that either a 3 part or alternative 4 part oil control ring will fit correctly?

Piston Rings
Hi, I have just received from ESM a set of piston rings, however the oil control rings are different to the existing ones. The original set was in 4 parts. Two thin rings, a castellated ring and a wavey ring that goes around the expander ring. The replacements are in 3 parts, with a thicker castella...

Re: Cylinder Head Questions
ahh, just googling during my lunch break.
It seems that my original head the valves are missing the little collet clips. People have said that they are worthless anyway so can I just not bother replacing them?
Would a factory engine have come like this?

Cylinder Head Questions
Hi, I am currently rebuilding my Morris 1098 engine which if genuine should be dating from around 1970. I have a few questions which I hope someone will be able to answer for me. The head that came off the engine seems odd. In the photos you will see that the collets holding the top of the valve do ...

Unleaded fuel
I'm sure that it's been asked before, but what is the collected opinion on running a standard 1098 minor engine on unleaded fuel?
I tried searching but I could not find a definitive answer.
Thanks
