Re: 1098 Ribbed Gearbox Remote not operating correcty
If it is a ribbed case are you sure the remote is for a ribbed case as the smooth case remote is shorter than the ribbed case remote so won't work on a ribbed case.

I'm with Don with this, looks like the correct gear stick, top one is the smooth case.

Yes. From the MMOC home page, EVENTS drop down, then select What's On, then select View on the National Rally dates. That brings up the form.

Re: Seris11 bonnet
Early Series 2 cars retained the small badge and chrome strip, probably to do with the stepped changes in production from Series MM to Series 2. I used the image from Potteries site on my previous post to show the badge and chrome strip, not a point of reference. I have amended my previous post in c...

Re: Regulator replacement
I recommend the regulators from CLASSIC DYNAMO & REGULATOR CONVERSIONS LTD. I replaced my lowlight with one of their regulators, it is excellent. It looks like an original. I have since purchased one for my van.

Re: Diagnosing a gearbox
Yes you have a smooth case gear stick, you need to source a rib case gear stick. I don't think the gear shifter is a straight swap from the smooth case to the rib case, I understand the gear shifter and gear selecting rods on the smooth case is shorter than the rib case so the gear shifting rods won...

Pictured my 49 lowlight during restoration, that area is original, there isn't an indent in that panel.

Re: Rear jacking point reinforcing plates
That jacking plate was only on the Series MM and Series 2 (possibly), not on the later cars. It was welded on the outside of the inner wing. Pictured my 49 lowlight.

The split 2 piece castings in the axle, the later axles are 1 piece design.

Re: Rear axel Morris Minor 1098cc
If the axle in your post is the one you are considering buying, it looks like a Series MM early Series 2 axle, not sure you would want to fit that to your later car. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to confirm the id of the axle.

Re: Half shaft oil seals
The modification was probably around 68, as the screen shot came from a Morris Minor workshop manual published by British Leyland. I own a 66 pick up which is original, it hasn't got the hub modification.

Re: Half shaft oil seals
If it is the hub seal that is leaking, there was a modification to the hub with an added O ring which did fix the oil leak problem.
