Re: Rear brake shoes
This is the first time I have used shoes without asbestos and didn't know the modern type of material would dust up so quickly. I will let them bed in as suggested and hope the issue goes away in time. Thanks fsk658

Rear brake shoes
Can anyone recommend a make or supplier of good rear brake shoes, the shoes fitted at the moment are from ESM. The main problem being they soon clog up with brake dust which affects the braking. The drums are new and in good condition

Re: Insurance
Hi got back from holiday in my pickup to find Footman James had a change of policy over my insurance. Unfortunately it came to late, I had to shop around and get new valuations in a short space of time. I am now with RH Insurance with similar cover and £160 cheaper ! Didnt expect Quite so much react...

Re: windscreen wiper wiring
I have used this timer from maplins K2599. I found it a bit bulky but it worked okay on my Pick Up but it is a two speed wiper motor not the origional Moggy wiper motor. I fitted a different Maplins kit (slightly altered) to my 4 door saloon. Its been working ok for the past 4 years, its smaller and...

Re: oil pressure relief valve spring
If you want to check your old spring measure the length as stated in Haynes Workshop Manual on page 14 it states free length of 72.63mm and a fitted length of 54.77mm but how you measure the fiited length I dont know.

Re: Stripped nut on front damper mount - what to do!
Hi I have done this repair to my Pick Up where someone had drilled and fitted a larger bolt it looked a mess. I think you need a 5/16 BSF nut (try on bolt first). Grind off the corners of the hex nut to make it cylindrical and slightly tapered. Drill out the offending stripped thread on the bulkhead...

Re: MOT Exemption
I am against any changes, it all sounds good on paper, saving whatever you pay for your MOT each year. something would take its place eventually. It could be another route to limit the use of classic vehicles in the future. No Mot, old banger,a solicitor would have a field day with any accident clai...

Re: Fuel Tank Problems
Hi I had the same problem when I fitted a new 9 1/2 gallon tank. As I usually fill my tank to the top, it still leaked after several gaskets and different sealants. I found the petrol was seaping up the fixing screws that fix the sender unit in the tank.I made some gasket washers to fit under the he...

Re: Fiat temperature sensor
Update on my temp sensor. The thread size in the cylinder head of my engine is a Metric thread 16mm x 1.5 mm Not a BSP as I was told. I have located an adaptor to fit with an 1/8 NPT internal thread to suit the new sender unit. John

I have been reading the topic on connecting guages via the voltage stabilizer. I have had the same problem on my Pick-up with a Fiat temp sender trying to operate a smiths temp guage. I have now resolved the problem after much searching on the net, so I hope this topic I found will help others. Go t...

Re: Fiat temperature sensor
Thanks guys, I have been using my smiths guage for years, but with the Fiat temp sender it works but I am not happy with the higher end of the scale, so to be on the safe side I will get the proper sender to match the guage unit now I know the thread size. I have the capilery one in my 1098 saloon a...

Re: Fiat temperature sensor
Thanks very much Jefftav. Found the size on Guy Croft racing it is 3/8 BSP which did surprise me, I thought it would be a metric thread. Now I can get a new smiths sender unit for my Pick up.
