Re: Buying a Morris Minor!

Thanks to all for your comments on buying the Morris Minor I was interested in and info on any others that might be possible purchases. I had this particular car inspected and, though it wasn't all bad, I was uncomfortable about a few areas that may have been troublesome later on. I am aware of poss...

Re: Buying a Morris Minor!

Well ,just done a bit of digging and found that OVB 776 was sold by Charterhouse Auctions in Shepton Mallet at a closing bid of £3,000. Presumably to the present seller. Ouch ! Any thoughts people ?

Re: Buying a Morris Minor!

Gearbox change is mentioned on ebay and in the Car and Classic (ad ref C712651) I had hoped to find the previous owner on here but no one has come forward yet. Would be nice to fill in some history gaps which was one of the main reasons for posting. The inspector will hopefully be worth his salt and...

Re: Buying a Morris Minor!

I know and thanks guys. All I am saying is that I need to really think and be careful as usual and my head is buzzing with questions ! The idea of having a weekend away and looking at it is a great one and any excuse. Driving a classic is amazing and , in my experience, a bit addictive because a 'mo...

Re: Buying a Morris Minor!

Thanks again everyone and, yes, I have been a bit confused by some of the comments but I know everyone is trying to help ! As to the lack or not of glovebox lids, I have seen a few Minors of this era without them and it isn't an issue for me. ' Many Minors' comments are more or less what I have been...

Re: Buying a Morris Minor!

Thanks for that. I will try to get as much info from the seller but I am guessing that they don't really know instead of unwilling to give it up but who knows. I always give people the benefit of the doubt and so far, with a fair bit of research on my part, it hasn't come back to bite me. I really d...

Re: Buying a Morris Minor!

Holy .... ! This is hard work and I think I am close to wimping out now. I have driven most cars, especially old classics and large VWs but not a Morris Minor for a while anyway. Thanks for all the input people. Think I need to lie down now

Re: Buying a Morris Minor!

I live in Edinburgh so first plan was to have it inspected. Anyone there able to do that for me? I would be willing to pay the going rate if anyone could but if not no probs. I won't hold you accountable if it falls apart first week of ownership  A good drive around in it is best done by someo...

Re: Buying a Morris Minor!

Thanks! I bought online , for a small amount, a UK Vehicle Car Check to give me some info such as it's VIN, engine numbers plus up to MOT histories. Also tells me if it's stolen, exported, imported. It did say that it has had a colour change but I don't think that's too important is it? Yes, it's a ...

Re: Buying a Morris Minor!

Thanks for your message. I have asked for underneath pics but none yet. I would have it inspected first but will have to find an inspector to do it! Yes, it does seem expensive too but I'm not sure what one would pay for a Morris in great condition ?

Buying a Morris Minor!

Hello, I am looking for a Morris Minor to buy and to hopefully join you lovely people of the Club with my new 'baby'. I have seen one on Classic Cars which looks gorgeous to me . It says in the sale info that it belonged to a member of the MMOC who maintained it very well. Wonder if anyone knows of ...
