Drivers door handle
Drivers door handle has stopped returning and now feels a bit loose though it works OK and locks and unlocks OK. What's the likely cause of this?

Re: rear lights
First of all let me say thanks to you two for your replies. You have helped me a few times - very much appreciated. If I move the bulb from side to side it starts to work for a little while. I have used fine emery paper to clean the contacts that make contact with the base of the bulb. Bit tricky to...

Re: rear lights
Actually perhaps I'm not being clear - the problem is just right rear.

rear lights
I've got a 61 car, but with the option of flashing indicators which means the sidelights at the front flash clear and at the rear red. The right hand side stops working periodically but then is OK for a while after I've cleaned the contacts and opened them up a bit. Not reliable though. The new unit...

Re: Fuse box
Thanks for this. OK I can see the link on the image of a new fuse box. So if I got a new box the green wires should be split between the two terminals right? But they would still be served by the one fuse wouldn't they? I've no idea why there is an extra white wire since the car is absolutely standa...

Pinion oil seal
My local garage did an MOT on my car and suggested the pinion oil seal be replaced. It's true that the car does mark its territory beneath the axel/prop shaft, but how serious does it have to be before it's changed? How good are modern remanufactured seals? Any recommendations for suppliers. The gar...

Shouldn't this fuse box on my 61 948cc have a cover?

Re: Air filter box
Got a new Framm filter from ESM and it won't fit over the housing that the air filter box sits on so it looks like it will have to go in upside down.

Re: Air filter box
Thanks everyone. Yes the photo is the one I have. Which then is the correct filter number? What's in there at the moment is one like you fit in a 1098 and which is readily available from ESM. The rubber ring at the larger end has been trimmed a bit and its been positioned with this at the bottom.

Air filter box
Just bought a 1961 948cc which was nicely restored 15 years or so ago. The engine bay looks really clean and the air filter box is sparkling. It's the small cylindrical one with a trumpet like intake. I think this should be an oil bath. Am I right? Instead what I find is a Framm filter sort of squas...

Noisy exhaust
Just had a new mild steel exhaust from ESM fitted to my Traveller. At low revs it sounds ok with the classic Moggy sound on the over-run. However, get to 50mph and it becomes noisy. Lift off at that speed and it sounds almost like a bang. At 60mph it is very noisy indeed. The exhaust isn't blowing a...

Re: oil filter type
Thanks both, but I'm not being clear - my fault. There are indeed bowl to housing seals with each filter, so one of these does fit. There are however two others - more like washers really. The first sits below the plate on which the filter sits. Mine has split (below this is a metal washer and below ...

oil filter type
How do I know if the filter housing is Purolator or Tecalemet? - I have a 71 Traveller. OK the same paper element can be used in each but the seals differ and I can't see any identifying marks on the housing.
