Re: Spark but no start

If the float chamber is full the engine should PULL fuel into its cylinders. When was this car last used/run? It could be any number of causes, stale fuel, low compression(do a compression test)if the compression is low, check the valve clearances and repeat test.Inlet manifold/carb gaskets failed/inco...

Re: Running problem that feels like fuel sarvation

Glad you are all sorted now.I even replaced my twin carbs for a HIF44 while i was going through the same problems as you.The fuel in the vac is prob due to the backfires (caused by the dizzy)forcing fuel down the advance/retard pipe. Now the Moggie is running well this should not happen again. The ear...

Re: Running problem that feels like fuel sarvation

I had a faulty acuspark elctronic dizzy, the engine would run well whilst stationary, could give it plenty of revs no probs, would run ok while just driving slowly, but try to go up hill or accelerate the car would miss fire, back fire judder etc.I messed about for weeks, fuel pump, carb, manifold gaskets,p...

Re: Strange problem. Lovely starter but just coughs and won't start easily if left for a couple of days

What a strange problem!Hmm..inlet/carb gasket/s maybe.i assume the points, condenser, cap, plugs(correct type?)valve clearances etc are all good and set correctly? Its worth doing a compression test and a fuel flow rate test too.Good luck.

Re: Fitting Ford KA seats

I have KA seats fitted to my 2 door.(sorry no photos)they are an easy fit,but the frame securing holes do not lineup with the originals,so new holes have to be drilled into the floor.I used large washers underneath to re enforce .Dont bother with the KA rear seats, they are a nightmare to fit and don...

Re: replacing water in cooling system

good idea to flush the coolant system out with a hose pipe first, flush, flush and flush!until the system is clean.check the condition of the hoses while you are at it.its not advisable to drain the radiator via the drain plug,as they are often seized and can distort or even split the radiator, just un...

A series engines use a 25d or 45d distributor.45d is thought to be the better option.Maybe fit an electronic 45d(cost aprox £60)

So how are you getting on?..If you find the problem is with the regulator and/or the dynamo it maybe worth considering fitting an alternator.

Re: Valve Stem O ring seal

some have used "super glue"to hold top hat seals i believe.I would change the inlet guides for the grooved type and fit top hats. 900 dollars seems quite expensive for unleaded conversion,Just had my head skimmed and unleaded conversion for £140 and £24 for the guides(fitted them myself be...

Re: What should I do now

Start with a decent tool kit,Moggies use imperial af for most things "mechanical" under the bonnet and Whitworth for body etc and prob a fair amount of metric thrown into the mix over the last 56 years! spanners and sockets, socket set, screw drivers ,feeler gauges.trolly jack, axel stands,c...
