Re: Brake bleed nipples and union screws
all back up and running now - took forever to bleed with a spongy pedal. Eventually got a fairly spongy pedal, but still with the ability to brake hard and took it out on a run around central london, at the end of the fairly long drive pedal was strangely alot firmer and could lock the wheels at 20m...

Re: Brake bleed nipples and union screws
the old bleed nipples are a little less exposed than that, but the union joints were flush, which is what gave me the jitters

Re: Brake bleed nipples and union screws
Thanks - I can feel they're seated right inside, but just nervous about the full thread not being in and nut flush to the body. If not a worry / this is normal then all good.

Brake bleed nipples and union screws
Evening all! I've recently received all the new bits for a front brake overhaul given seized and leaking cylinders. However, I'm a little concerned that the union and bleed nipples don't properly seat. Photo attached, but this is as far as they go in without undue force (I know the nipple isn't acci...

Re: Best cover for Morris Minor Convertible
can't speak for the OP, but when you live in central london you may as well just buy a brand spanking morris each year for the price of renting a garage:

Re: Best cover for Morris Minor Convertible
yup, agree it's no replacement for garaging, but when that's not an option is a case of humid air against sound paintwork or rain getting behind panels, into chassis legs and on top of the wood - much lesser of two evils for me!

Re: Best cover for Morris Minor Convertible
sometimes that just isn't viable (i.e. on street only car parking in the vast majority of central london) Over winter i put moisture absorbing bags in the car and make sure to take the cover off once it stops raining to avoid too high humidity. Can't see how keeping water out of the inside of the ca...

Re: Best cover for Morris Minor Convertible
halfords ones probably aren't the absolute best - however they do the job perfectly well and are completely waterproof. small size is perfect
only shame is that they changed the colouring from a nice grey colour to a horrible shiny silver a couple of years ago, but doesn't matter too much really

Re: Woodwork preservation and front doors
welcome! i replaced the wood on my traveller 9 years ago - it's kept outside at all times, although covered with a waterproof cover whenever it's forecast to rain (so 70% of the year!) no sign of rot that i can see yet and the wood is still nice and bright. It was initially treated with multiple dre...

what's that seal you have at the bottom of the door? My traveller could use one of those and the usual rail to hold bottom excluder has rusted away

tyre prices
wow!
just had a look at replacing the 5 tyres on the saloon i've been working on for a while. bought new bridgestones for traveller 3 years back at £60 or so each - now can't find anywhere for less than £100!
wondering if this is a permanent rise or just a blip with our particular tyres?

Re: Alfred's First Winter Outside
big thumbs up for Osmo here. my traveller lives outside (albeit under cover) all year, has done for 8 years and there's only a couple of very small black spots, with none around the joints. i do re-coat every summer and try and not ever get it directly wet - not so easy, but do-able in London given ...

black stuff on new wings
Hi all, Making some progress on restoring minor no 2 at the moment. I bought a new rear wing a while ago (heritage) from ESM - it appears to be pre-coated in some sort of black primer, but i've noticed in some spots it's bubbling with rust underneath!! When i went to wipe it clean with alcohol for p...
