Re: clutch
Just to clarify what I mean as I am probably not using the correct terms When the clutch pedal is pressed - there is a significant amount of travel before I feel the clutch come in to play (by that i mean it allows the gears to be shifted). The 'engagement' is only right at the end of the pedals mov...

clutch
I've been having a few problems with the clutch recently on my 67 mog. There is very little clearance in the pedal so I have to depress it completely to get the clutch to engage, which it does only in the last half inch of movement. Previously had problems adding oil to the gearbox - due to tight nu...

Re: Naive question (Servicing)
Thank you for all your help.
In the end I had to resort to a hex head and a very long lever
(using the term "I" very loosely - meaning the person i got to do it after my failure)
All done - just the oil filter, sparks and air filter left to do.

Re: Radio strangeness
Right - not posted for a few days as my radiator split in the cold this week. I had an interesting hour or so switching in a new rad (the old one had some really bad old patches which had failed so a new one was not only a good idea but needed). Fortunately i didn't mess it up and it worked well. I ...

Re: Naive question (Servicing)
Thank you - I will try that once I have fixed the radiator!
It split on me yesterday (previous owner had made a quick repair which failed in the cold)

Re: Radio strangeness
Hi,
No I haven't checked the dynamo as I do not have a way of checking.
The battery does recharge (when the lights/wipers/heater are not on) although I did need to use the starter handle this morning.
Thanks

Re: Naive question (Servicing)
Thank you for your reply. The bung is on the left of the gear stick and covers the hole below which sits the nut. I have tried to loosen the nut using the wheel brace and a socket set but no joy. It is stuck fast which made me question whether I had the right nut. The valve gaps ... I think I will l...

Re: Starting handle how to?
Had to look in the boot for the handle this morning. Definitely needed to have the bonnet open to check for correct engagement. It took quite a few turns to get any life out of her. Thank goodness it worked because my other half was laughing at my failed attempts and mouthing 'I told you that you sh...

Re: Front wheel bearing grease cap
I am interested to know (as a new owner) what was the consensus - to grease or not to grease?
I also have just read the manual and was thinking whether or not I should do it.

Naive question (Servicing)
Just to clear up from the beginning, I am not technically minded or desperately confident with mechanical things but willing to learn, hence the naïve questions. I bought a moggie (1967 2 door) in the summer and I now need to start servicing. I have started to get round to the gearbox oil. I have lo...

Re: Radio strangeness
Thank you all for your help and advice
The problem still persists but a new battery is on the cards - in the mean time a solar/wind up radio is filling the void.
If any one is interested it is the Degen DE13 - works a treat.

Re: Radio strangeness
Update After a month of monitoring the situation, I have come to the following conclusion: It was the dynamo - or at least partially. The radio works well but will at times stop working. Once disconnected, it will then rework after a few drives, once reconnected obviously. Last week, when the weathe...

Re: Radio strangeness
Thank you I am beginning to suspect the radio rather than the connections. More strangeness has followed. Firstly, the radio has been working, however, when I accelerate the fascia light glows brighter. Secondly, on the way home this evening, the horn stopped working, when I disconnected the radio, ...

Re: Radio strangeness
I did consider the connections yesterday and checked them several times but that didn't seem to cure the problem (and I certainly did nothing different today).
I do hope it is that simple - the test will be if it works on the way home!
Thank you for your reply.

Radio strangeness
HI, Recently traded in my old 91 Mini for a 67 2 door Morris, which I am very glad about (more comfortable and easier on the back!). However, it was radio-less. Afters checking whether it was negatively wired (which it was) I bought an old pye radio from ebay, which looks perfect for the car. I mana...
