Re: The 'lift the dot' strap in the boot of a Minor Saloon
Many thanks for all the help. All the original straps I have seen bar one, yours and the ESM version have been simple leather straps with a slightly angled ending on both corners. The service parts list appears to mirror this. It would be useful to know if this was the case for all and whether the Se...

The 'lift the dot' strap in the boot of a Minor Saloon
I suppose that this counts as bodywork. Does anyone know the change point, if there was one from the ' lift the dot' strap in the boot of a Minor Saloon (- to secure the rear seat / to allow it to be folded down.) to the two wing nuts I have seen on many later (Series V) cars. Mine broke back in the...

It was the best national Rally in years with quality auto jumble, excellent cars , great venue and friendly staff. Thanks to Andrew Stone and the team.

Re: Warranty certificates.
As stated earlier, I am looking to reproduce these in a high quality manner and for that I need to understand how they may have changed over the years with changes in model / spec. This is primarily to make one for my own car but also for anyone else who may be interested, which to judge by the resp...

Re: 1966 2 door saloon Milly restoration project
The original black plastic tool bag used to do that quite well- I always wrapped the tools in old cloth off-cuts though. I still keep one under my driver's seat out of long habit as I frequently had to use it in the late 1970s / early 1980s.

Re: Warranty certificates.
Interesting. Potentially cost saving too. What period was the certificate from originally ie VRM of the original car?
The paper is quite thick on the originals, what did you use to print it on?

Re: Warranty certificates.
There is an echo in here. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but a straw poll locally seems to indicate a degree of interest. Another plea for early mid and late versions of the Morris / Nuffield Warranty certificate so that as and when I do get them. made I can ensure that they are for the right ...

Re: Warranty certificates.
Exactly that. Many thanks, King Kenny. It appears identical to the later Series II and early Series III certificates that I have from autojumbles. The Series II certificate has, like yours, a typed 'P.M.' in the bottom left-hand corner (and is on slightly heavier paper), whereas the Series III one d...

Warranty certificates.
I have picked up a couple of these at auto jumbles one is late Series II and one early Series III. The one for my 1957 Minor was lost before I bought it and I am looking to get them reproduced. One is typed, one hand written. The latter has a dealer stamp However I believe they changed somewhat over...

Ian is a top notch guy. We in Uttlesford are fairly close to him and use him all the time. He is generous with his time and advice.

Series MM, chrome grille insert.
Series MM, chrome grille insert. I have spent the last two days, gently getting 70 plus years of crud off this, and there are no bends, dinks, dents or areas of corrosion. The chrome appears original and is a tad thin in places but otherwise this grille is in very good condition for its age.. It cou...

Re: Old English touch up too light colour
You think you have got problems... try matching Clarendon Grey... I have seen 5 different shades although ESM's rattle cans are a good match for mine. If I need to brush any bits I spray into the can top and use that paint.

Re: Morris won't start - SW London
After 9 months your battery may not be charging at all.
It will take more than a charger on the battery to deliver power to start the car. have you tried jump starting from another car / put another battery in?
