I have been thinking about this and I think I will still take my daily driver for MoT every 12 months for a health check in case I have missed something as I do about 12,000 miles per year in her. Well, I checked the timing advance with a tachostrobe and guess what? No advance at all when going up to 3000 rpm. Turns out the bob weights were seized and also the vacuum advance unit was faulty.
