Re: Too far gone?
Timewaster is someone making an appointment, and you don't hear from them again (usually on a weekend when you could be doing something else). A timewaster can also be someone who has asked all the question in the phone, knows its not going to pass an mot, then gives you lip for the state of the car...

Re: Too far gone?
Had a few timewasters, so going to give it a little more time, and if nobody buys it, I will start to gather parts to get it solid and usable

Re: Just bought another
These are the numbers off the vin plate...
(might be wrong, as hard to get in the engine bay)
M7 AS3 710903
I was a bit puzzled though about the actual vin plate, as its the big squarish plate. Being a '59 car, shouldn't it be the smaller oblong one.

Re: Too far gone?
Its been decided - the Minor is going, because if I'm going to do the amount of work needed on it, I might as well just buy a Minor van and do that up, then at least I can paint it up for my plumbing business and use at shows

Too far gone?
Well here are the first lot of pictures of my '59 Minor. These were taken by the recovery guy, and it does seem to suggest that the car is more than a project, and is in fact in need of substantial welding. I will leave the pictures here for your perusal. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/merc-ow...

Re: Welding - underside - thoughts?
Well at least you will know that its been done, just make sure the guy doing the welding shows you the quality of his work on other cars, and also during and after he has welded your car, as too often they clag waxoyl on the car when its finished and you haven't a clue is its a good job or an expens...

Re: Just bought another
Not yet, as I took deliver of it, realised the extent of the welding, wheeled it into the garage, closed the door, and pretended it was close to mot worthy

Re: Just bought another
The OP made it look like its a dateless reg, its not KGF 789, it's KGF 789A, so its on a 1963 reg, but is definitely a 1959 car.

Re: Welding - underside - thoughts?
Sorry to see the state of your new purchase, Sadly I have just done the same. I bought a 1959 minor off ebay unseen, and its rotten pretty badly. A competent welder would say its nothing, but I'm not a competent welder  If the car looks like its going to cost thousands just to get it solid enou...

Re: Just bought another
Now in my ownership, and rather worse for wear. In two minds about keeping it, as it needs more welding than any other car I have had.
