Happy New Year 2024
We Moggy owners in the Glasgow area are raising money for Parkinson’s UK throughout the whole of 2024. One of our (very active!) founder members has the condition and we thought it would be great to make a positive difference to people’s lives. Challenging perceptions and helping to find a cure. For...

Moggies in Glasgow
Thought I’d share a couple of photos of some MMOC members that recently got together with their Moggies in Glasgow. Sunshine too!

Re: 'Smart' motorways
What is dangerous about “smart” motorways is the removal of the passive safety feature, the hard shoulder. What is controversial is the removal of that important safety feature. Humans can, and will, act stupidly from time to time. No amount of education will ever stop that. Elements of “smart” moto...

Re: Cheerio (for now)
Thanks gents. I’m looking forward to the change. I’ll continue to run the Glasgow Moggies club…so I’ll still be surrounded by Minors and almost certainly will have another! I just don’t have the space and money for both right now. Funny how two takes on a car to achieve the same goal, affordable and...

Cheerio (for now)
Evening folks. Just a quick one to say I’m jumping ship shortly to camp Volkswagen. I’m switching my Traveller for a ‘72 Volkswagen World Champion Beetle. One of my bucket list cars. The Traveller going back to my friend (a fellow MMOC member). No doubt I’ll have another Minor at some point again, s...

Monty the Jack Russell. He was far too excited to sit still for a nice photo. Managed to get a glimpse of Morris Minor in it.

Re: Zebra crossings
Pelican was far more successfully than the 1 year trial (meaning disastrous experiment ) of the 'Panda Crossing' in 1962. They were only in use for a week before they announced changes to the way they worked. They featured both 'Flashing' and 'Pulsating' lights, of which people were supposed to kno...

Great photos Mike
Here’s a black and white one of my car outside a lovely old church a few weeks ago, and another of club cars in procession at the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust.

Re: 'Smart' motorways
A definite 'yes' vote from me. I recently wrote to my MP presenting a number of strong arguments against so-called smart motorways, and received the expected bland reply from the Secretary of State for Transport. However, my letter at least registered my dissent, so I would encourage others to do l...

Re: Sunday Telegraph
I’m not criticising you for standing up for what you believe in, but I do wonder if it’s wise to use a historic vehicle that’s exempt to make the point? The classic car lobby has rightfully and successfully secured exemptions for us in LEZs across the UK. It’s largely flown under the radar of the ge...

If all else fails you could politely ask the buyer for the badge back, explaining your error?

Having made the (horrible) drive from Glasgow to Cornwall last year (in a modern car) I fully appreciate how cut off you are from the rest of the country. Nice part of the world though.

Re: National Rally 2023
Hope everyone that goes has a great weekend. It’s too far south for us, so unfortunately nobody from our little club is going.
Hopefully there will be one further north next year.

Having just replaced a full set of front cylinders, I do like the idea of the silicone brake fluid to eliminate seizing brake cylinders. Is it just the cost of the silicone fluid that puts most people off?

Re: Fitting an aluminium GB plate to car
I’ve certainly found ANPR cameras at car parks fail to detect the black and silver aluminium plates. I’ve had to buzz for assistance. Wouldn’t surprise me if the enforcement cameras struggle in the same way…though I don’t intend putting it to the test.
