Thanks, all in correct order. As on my other thread I am having trouble verifying that the mark on the engine crank start wheel (where the fan would be) is indeed TDC.

Hi Nic, any air filter type like the old austin healy sprite would suffice. They have a gauze that acts as a flame trap. Early sunbeam alpines are the same, there are plenty around.
