Re: Leaking Differential Pinion Oil Seal in my 1950 MM

The oil level was fine (not over-filled) when I last checked several years ago. My car is a 1950 with the early split axle, which does not have a breather. There are no other issues or leaks that I am aware of. I removed the left rear wheel and brake drum to check for leaks around the axle seal. Eve...

Leaking Differential Pinion Oil Seal in my 1950 MM

In November 2022 I stored my 1950 Morris Minor Tourer in the garage for the winter. In March 2023, I noticed a large oil stain on the garage floor under the differential, with drops of oil in several places on the underside of the differential. Previous oil leaks were only under the engine, so this ...

Re: 1950 MM Horn Ground on Steering Column Problem

I did some trouble shooting yesterday with a multi-meter, and the problem is due to the insulator (59) not being able to prevent the ring connector from touching the threads on the bolt. I tried using rubber grommets in place of 59, but the diameter is either too small or too large. I will try to fi...

1950 MM Horn Ground on Steering Column Problem

I own a 1950 US export model Tourer. One of my winter projects was to refurbish the wiper motor, wheel boxes, and wiper rack. In removing and replacing the wiper parts some bullet connectors became separated. All that is resolved, but there is now a problem with the horn. I assumed that too was due ...

Re: Tecalemit Oil Filter Canister Seals

The Purolater cup washer (17h1172) is quite different from the large bowl shaped part that fits over the bottom of my oil filter canister. So the bowl is still a mystery, as it doesn't appear in any parts diagram I have found. 17h1172-Purolater.jpg BoltAndRelatedParts.jpg OilFilterPartsDiagram.jpg

Thanks, I suspected it was a mixture of parts.

Re: Tecalemit Oil Filter Canister Seals

The Tecalemit filter assembly at the Moss UK link does not match my car. I believe the correct part is:

Rubber Seal, Tecalemit filter bolt to canister

Though I still haven't found a match on a canister with the round cup at the bottom.

Tecalemit Oil Filter Canister Seals

My 1950 Tourer was fitted with a 948 engine (9M-U-98803) by a previous owner. The canister oil filter appears to be a later Tecalemit, and uses a spring clip above the pressure plate that supports the disposable filter. There is a rubber washer just below the pressure plate (as opposed to the felt w...

Re: Genuine convertible?

Pardon my ignorance. For a left hand drive car which side is OSF (off side front shock absorber)? Do you mean driver or passenger.

Re: Genuine convertible?

I just bought a 1950 Tourer and am trying to determine if this is a genuine convertible. Details are: - Firewall plate is a reproduction and is stamped with "Car No SMM / 42350" - Has a later 948 engine (9M-U-98803) - Cheese grater grill - High, wing mounted headlights - Left hand drive (c...
