Thanks for the ideas. I'll try submitting a V888 - the worst that can happen is they'll say no. When I've done it, I'll post the outcome back here as it's something that I can see many people have asked about but it isn't completely clear what's allowed.

Trying to find 455 MPD
I used to own this car, a grey saloon registered 1 December 1957. The DVLA records show the status as SORN. I'd like to contact the present owner to see whether he/she would consider selling it.
