I don't think so. That's for Triumph derived boxes (or at least BL boxes I suppose). For the Midget 1500.
This is the one I bought - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200629685394
Listed as 13H4216. You'll need a 1275 box, or at least a 1275 remote, to fit one. The standard box has no facility for it.

Re: Reversing light on a 1098
Thanks all, Switch fitted and all working. Heat shrink used as above. Word of warning to anyone fitting one - get the right one, as there are two that look very similar but the threads are different. Second, test before committing to it, I had to space mine with three washers so it would work proper...

Re: MG Metro cam and 12G295 head related query
Hi all, able to update now! Fitted the 295 head, was very impressed with performance. Unfortunately, I didn't have it skimmed as it looked ok on the steel rule, coincidentally my engine man agreed, and it blew into the water jacket, so needs skimming again. I have since spotted some very minor pitti...

Re: MG Metro cam and 12G295 head related query
So from that info I just need to ask Minispares what the height is from the gudgeon pin on their pistons?
Alternatively, where else can you get flat top pistons for a 1098 off the shelf?
Thanks for your help Phil, we'll get there!

Re: MG Metro cam and 12G295 head related query
Well, it's back to me, and back in one piece. Measured depth with my micrometer, measures 2.604", I think all standard heads are 2.75"(?). Which presumably means this one has been skimmed by around 15 thou in the past. Is it worth, according to the advice here, fitting flat top pistoms? Tr...

Re: Reversing light on a 1098
Thanks chaps, Declan, I remember your solution, but since I have the remote to hand I may as well use it! It should mean it will go in and work with no adjustments. Mogbob, sound advice. This one has no switch currently fitted (though has got the casting for one) so I will fit it to the box, cleanin...

Reversing light on a 1098
Simple question - does anyone know if the remote housing from a 1275 Midget gearbox fits straight onto a 1098 box, using a 1098 gear lever?
I have a 1098 box and dug out just a 1275 Midget remote and will look to fit the reversing light switch up if the above can be done!
Thanks in advance.

Re: MG Metro cam and 12G295 head related query
Thanks all for your input. It has been noted. My next move will be to pull the cam out (while fitting the 295 head) and double check it is an MG Metro cam. If it is I will dial it in from there, and let you know how it goes.

Re: MG Metro cam and 12G295 head related query
Panky - will check. Islipmimor - +20 standards. The head has been skimmed by a fair margin already, and is currently being skimmed further. I should point out the head is not yet fitted to the vehicle, and never has been, still on a standard 1098 head at the moment. Compression is at 190 on all cyli...

Re: MG Metro cam and 12G295 head related query
Phil, Thanks for that. I've been reading some posts about cam timing that uses a set figure of lobe lift (measured in thou) hence the assumption an imperial guage is the one to get! Engine is still assembled, so assuming I can find TDC with a drilled-through-and-bolted spark plug I should theoretica...

Really? I thought that was only necessary with the 12G940 1275 derived heads?

MG Metro cam and 12G295 head related query
Hi all, I recently fitted an MG Metro camshaft in place of the standard 1098 camshaft on my 1098, along with a matching oil pump and duplex chain kit. The engine is also currently sporting an HIF38 carb on an alloy manifold. My problem is that since fitting the cam the performance is no better, in f...

Re: Alternator diodes?
I can tell you that the ammeter shows a charge/discharge in the usual fashion. It has never given any trouble and actually I'm very glad to have fitted it, with regards to the recent alternator problems. As far as I'm concerned it's working as well as it can be! I'm fairly certain the wiring for it ...

Re: Alternator diodes?
Thanks both. The wiring loom was supplied new by ESM and should, by design, go to the battery terminal of the solenoid. Since it has an ammeter, I've added a smaller ring terminal to the end of the loom and connected it to the back of the ammeter, so it can 'read' the charge. Typically this has happ...

Alternator diodes?
Hello all, thanks in advance for your advice. I did try the search function but found no specific answer to my question. Tonight my Morris, with headlights etc on, developed a glowing ignition light. I found that the light went out with high revs, but glowed at idle/lower revs. I do have an ammeter ...

Re: Ignition light not working - alternator
Problem solved. Before the loom was made up of (poorly) crimped single lucar terminals. I took these off to fit the connector block but the warning light terminal on the alternator must have got slightly bent and was sitting out of place. Only noticed as I went to clean the terminals as a final atte...

Ignition light not working - alternator
Hello all, Wondering if anyone can help with an inconvenience on my car. The wiring has been significantly bodged so I've had to start again. Some owner had the warning light running through the oil pressure warning light wire, to show the extent of the bodge. So I've started again and run new wirin...

Re: Crank journal diameters - regrind needed?
Thanks all for your input, it is valued. I've rechecked today and got similar values (most the same, 3 within .01 of a mm which is just natural error I guess). Did take pics but looking at them at home they were in direct sunlight and aren't clear at all. I fully conceded now that this crank is not ...

Re: Crank journal diameters - regrind needed?
The centre main has seem some wear (to the copper) but the crank externally looks ok.
