Re: Interior door lock catch
Is his car LH drive then? The RH door on a UK car does not have such a catch fitted - which might explain why it is hard to obtain. Well, there you go. You learn something new every day. His Traveller is definitely RH drive, and I've told him to stop looking! However, the door is drilled for the ca...

Interior door lock catch
Hi, My son is having real problems trying to obtain a right-hand interior door lock catch (part no. DLK109 in the ESM catalogue). This part has been out of stock seemingly forever at both ESM and Charles Ware. If anyone can tell me where we might be able to get one of these I would be very happy to ...

Re: Vibration - again
Great news! The vibration has disappeared! A new differential (Thank you pde2000 ) was fitted this morning and the car taken out for a drive this afternoon. Tentatively taken above 45mph the vibration ceased to appear, so the speed was increased to around 55 and the car purred along as though it was...

Re: Vibration - again
Crikey. A wealth of information -thank you one and all. I don't have much time right now but I will try and post a video of the rotating prop shaft if I can (anyone know how I go about doing that, by the way?). Time is pressing, especially as we are trying to move house at the moment too, but I will...

Re: Vibration - again
So here's the latest. I suppose we should have thought of this sooner, but this morning we put the back of the car on axle stands and ran it up to an equivalent of 45mph in 4th gear. Just before it reached 40 the vibration became apparent (no road noise or other sounds or rattles). When we looked un...

Re: Vibration - again
When you say you sorted the prop shaft - what did you do or have done to it other than changing the UJs? We thought it might have become bent, but apparently it's as straight as a die - I don't know how hey test for this sort of thing, but it seems it''s in balance. We did have new UJ's fitted thou...

Re: Vibration - again
Thank you for the suggestions so far. It's not easy to come to a diagnosis down a broadband connection, so I am very grateful. OK, I'm going to initially put to one side the engine steady and the gearbox steady cable. As the vibration is coming from the back of the car I will concentrate on the damp...

Vibration - again
OK, here we go again. I posted a query a while ago about a vibration that sets up in our Traveller as soon as it gets above 45mph. It was suggested then that it might be the wheels and/or the prop shaft. Since then, and heeding that advice, we have had a full set of new tyres and the wheels have bee...

Non-locking locks
The driver and passenger door locks on my Traveller do not actually lock the doors, although the key turns in the barrels suggesting that a linkage of some sort has failed, on both sides.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how was it resolved?
Thank you.

Re: Fuel tanks
I you have filled up is it possible that its just leaking from the gasket around the sender unit? The sender is at a lower part of the tank than when full, if that makes sense! I inspected the tank today and there is clear evidence that it's the gasket that has failed rather than the tank itself be...

My sister is a nurse / midwife / paedatric type person and from what I hear, Florence is not turning slowly at all, she is spinning like a newly restored dynamo. I am a retired plod and love the new Met Commissioner tho I do , her predecessor was right when he said 'you cannot throw laptops at mobs...

Re: Another one back on the road
Well done for getting back on the road, feels great doesn't it :D . vibration is wheels, propshaft or both, i just had my prop balanced and it cleared 90% of the vibration I was having at 45mph. l need to get the wheels done next. Your problem could also be a bit of both. Well I was about to ask yo...

Re: Fuel tanks
As far as I am aware saloons and travellers shared the tanks. 5 gallon and larger can be fitted as well it was only the depth (upper bulge that differed). Good luck Did you have a look at the Gumtree / Bay one ? The Ebay tank looks good (can't get into the Gumtree at the moment, for some reason), b...

I am not a techy type or engineer of any description (my username here will give you a clue) but even my profession isn't immune from IT interference. For example, electronic patient records take much longer to manage (though I admit are less bulky!), but my concern is around their integrity and lon...

Re: Another one back on the road
I was told today that the vibration might be coming from the propshaft. It's a high frequency vibe, so that is entirely possible.

Repair is always a possibility depending on how bad it is but it has to be made safe first and can be very expensive. There is this one on fleabay £60,00. I have seen worse. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MORRIS-MINOR-1000-FUEL-TANK-GENUINE-WITH-SENDER-UNIT-FROM-1966-/182486867918?_trksid=p2385738.m2548...

Re: Another one back on the road
Nic why don't you just put bigger drums on the front instead of a costly disc setup :) My son will be driving the car and he wants discs on the front, so not really my decision. I've just transferred ownership to him (but continue to finance the resto. How does that work?!) PS. I'm Graham, not Nic....
