Re: First Run Out

Don't think the driveway slope will be the problem. These cars have been parked on steep driveways in the past! They don't overheat usually. They are well engineered in that respect. They weren't made with 1000cc engines originally. Tell us a bit more about the car... I think the driveway is the la...

Re: First Run Out

Sounds like the clutch is slipping - which engine is it? And is there some 'free play' at the clutch pedal? If you take off the oil cap and give it a good rev - is there a plume of smoke/fume? What 'mechanical' work was done to the car? Just started up and given a boot, nothing comes out of the eng...

Re: First Run Out

Thanks for the reply. The engine had seized when I first had it, so I think they freed it up with some diesel, all the other work was on the brakes, nothing on the gearbox or clutch. Its a 1000cc engine, the car was born in 1961. the slipping clutch would make sense, as long as I didn't put my foot ...

First Run Out

After getting my moggie 'Tommy' back from getting all the mechanics sorted out many, many months ago I plucked up the courage to drive a little further than the end of the road...(Last time all was going well until I i worked out that if you don't have much fuel it doesn't like going uphill, and get...

Who would you suggest for body and interior work?

Hi, I came on here last year to tell the tale of my little morris 'Tommy', well, thanks to the chaps at Chertsey Minors he has a MOT and is back on the road, I am now wanting to get the cosmetic side of things done. It needs a full strip down and re-spray seeing as my Uncle had once painted it with ...

Re: New Restoration... Off he goes!

Thanks for the replies, I didn't say in the original post as I didn't know if anyone would bother reading this. But I am getting a full new braking system, everything replaced and yes new tyres! I want the car to be fully safe and mechanically / electrically before I drive anywhere in it. I have wha...

New Restoration... Off he goes!

Since sitting in the garage from 1988 my new little car 'Tommy' saw daylight for the first time in 26 years. Very impressed that the tyres went up and stayed up and that he rolled out wonderfully. He is now down at Chertsey Minors getting a sorted so as to pass an MOT, after advice from some lovely ...

Re: Help...Restoration Suggestions Please

I had a visit today from the guys down at Chertsey Minors, and as I found them to be nice and very knowledgable they will be taking our little car 'Tommy' (we have already named him so we are well screwed) down to get it up and ready for its MOT, fitting some seat belts, refurb the engine, fitting a...

Help...Restoration Suggestions Please

Hello, I am about to take into my care a 1500 Minor from an old family member, I sadly do not know the exact model or date but for now that will have to do. It has sat in a garage for about 18 years, the engine has seized and it does has a bit of rust that I can see. I am looking for some advice on ...
