Cam,

I added Orange flashers bolted beneath my rear bumper. My nerves couldn't take pulling out on the M25 and hoping my flashing brakes lights had been seen by overtaking drivers.

You may be made of tougher stuff than me though!

Willie / Ray / Justin Thanks for the information, perhaps from the comments it would be best to 'bite the bullet' and go for a new M/C. Is there any advantage in fitting a 13/16 in place of the original 7/8? If not I'll put in a 7/8. Incidently, any ideas why the put a reduced bore unit in the later...

Master Cylinder Repair Kit.

ESM show two sizes of Master Cylinder Repair Kits in their catalogue, 13/16" and 7/8". Can anybody tell me what size I need for a 1962 948 Series 3 Moggie fitted with 7" front brakes?

Thanks.

I think that several heads need to be boiled... but anyway.
That's a novel, but drastic method of clearing the rear screen. Is it a West Country practice?

See, that's what I tried initially but it was a big stinking doesn't work. *but* the genius thought occurs - if I scrape off the paint I put on *grr* and put back in the gaps some of the delightfully useless demister strip from the kit, and then *rejoin* that with the paint, then the thing might wo...

Do you have any of the aluminium tape left over in the kit? If so I wondered if the aluminium paint might be able to 'glue' each end of a piece of the aluminium tape to bridge the gap. You would need to remove the glue from the inside of the bridging strip where it connected to the original demister.

I bought a cheap lever type grease gun from halfords specifically for oiling the steering rack. I leave the oil in it and hang it on a nail on the garage wall in the upright position. Nothing leaks, so it's always ready for use and saves me from the palaver of filling it up each time.

When I did the JOGLE in 2000 a Dutch traveller taking part was fitted with an LPG conversion. I sort of looked into it then but as has already been said, there's no government help with the installation so It will take a loooong time to recoup the cost and also, since I was informed by an installati...

Re the Alternator, BL Workshop Manual shows a circuit diagram for cars fitted with a Lucas 11AC Alternator. What is also interesting is that the Alternator was a Positive Earth model.

I'm coming in late on this one and it may already have been covered, but is your fan belt too tight. Checking and loosening the belt on my car cured a 'mysterious squeak' a little while back.

Nikki,

When I adjusted my striker plate for the same problem I used an impact screwdriver. The amount I use it means that a Halfords one is fine and it is very good for undoing and doing up screws where the slot or cross head is damaged. Also a final 'Whack' does them up really tightly.

I have used 12 volt LEDs. I have a small plate under my dashboard with switches for Fog Lamps, Rear Screen Heater and Variable Speed Wipers. Each switch has a coloured 12 volt LED between the output side of the switch and the earth to show me when it is switched on. I have also used 'White' LEDs to ...

Nikki,

Contact RS Components. They sell 24 volt dc White LED's. They are cheap enough to experiment with and, being 24 volt, might not be too bright.

Maplin Electonics only sell a 3mm 12 volt LED's in Red Green and Yellow.

Cam, Picture Here > http://www.woolley.me.uk/Lincon_Battery.jpg The brochure says they sell it in 'A1' format. This would have the terminals with the Positive on the right the way I have installed the battery. I asked them to build it as 'AO' format which put the Negative on the right. So if your ca...

I can't remember the supplier but I've seen one in a Minor and the owner said it was about the same price as a normal battery! I was very jealous! I'm on my 2nd Lincon Battery. The company is only about a 10 minute drive from me. They will build you a bespoke battery if you require it. I bought, an...
