Re: Devon Morris Minor club vehicle gathering

It is happening and on Sunday 19th August. I emailed them and got a reply. Hopefully I’ll be going, all the way from Yorkshire!

Re: Our other hobbies and passions

That was when she was almost at the end of her boiler ticket. Extremely worn but still had the muscle.
She's getting overhauled at the moment and should be back in steam next year.
No expense spared so she will be like out of the factory.

Re: Our other hobbies and passions

No sid I haven't. I volunteer on an industrial based line (colliery). Mainly small shunters. We do however have the britains powerful industrial steam loco which is a Peckett called Mardy Monster. It is quite the beast.

Re: Our other hobbies and passions

My hobbies other than Morris minors are fishing and railways. I'm a steam driver & fireman and also a diesel driver on a heritage railway. Only trouble is my shifts mean I work most weekends so can't get to the railway as often as I used to. It also hinders my ability to go to classic car rally'...

Re: 1960 4 Door Saloon

Cheers. I'm glad I went for cellulose, it seems so forgiving. I had areas that layer on quite thick and expected ripples in it but it flattened off and dried so fast that it avoided running. I'm sure if I had used 2k then I would have encountered a lot more runs. I managed to get the last four coats...

Re: 1960 4 Door Saloon

Erm well yeah I do want those lovely seats in my car....they aren't too lovely at the moment though. But they will be....;-) Cheers for the polishing advice, going to give it last coats today then flat it all down with 2000 wet on Monday. I'll then get on with everything else needed on the car and p...

Re: 1960 4 Door Saloon

Well I'd say it's a Fluke more than ability. This is genuinely the first time I've used a spray gun. I must say I have followed much advice from many paint sprayers and I think I have managed okay. A little orange peel and the occasional run. But I flatted the runs out before the next few coats. I'm...

Re: Aldi compressor & air tools

I bought the 25l aldi compressor when they had it in stock last year. Just sprayed my entire car and it has performed perfectly. It was running constantly but always kept up with the demand. If the 50l compressor on sale now is as good as my 25l then I would highly recommend anybody to snatch one up...

Re: 1960 4 Door Saloon

Hi all, As promised here are some photos: Starting off we have the front suspension leg fitted and also the rear axle dropped off for new bushes/shackles and pins. I also put on new hub o rings and gaskets before I replaced the brakes as they were getting a little damp on the backplate. Unfortunatel...

Re: 1960 4 Door Saloon

I shall be using them still and I'll be hopefully doing some seat cover sewing and trying to get a good vinyl reproduction. Hopefully much cheaper than proper vinyl covers. Although probably won't be as good... but at least they will be well presentable. Going to recover the door cards and other vin...

Re: 1960 4 Door Saloon

Hi all, Sorry about the lack of updates. Well I certainly have cracked on since my last post, With all doors and wings lined up and the front wings bolted on permanently. I have also finished the suspension front and rear and have fitted a new master cylinder and pipework to rear. Paint prep has tak...

Headlining fitter

Hi all. I'm looking for a headlining fitter in South Yorkshire.
I've looked online but couldn't find anyone.
Just wondered if someone on here knows anybody?
Thanks

Re: New chassis ID plate

Yeah, that was my original worry. It was removed for spraying of the body many years ago, I bought the car with no logbook and hoped it was legible enough for me to get the number to send for a logbook. Luckily it is so I now just have to preserve it as best I can and put a new one in its place. Luke

New chassis ID plate

Hi all, bought another minor. It was almost finished being restored around 20 years ago then ended up being dry stored.
My question is, can I get a chassis number plate reproduced?
The old one has corroded and is only just readable now.
Thanks,
Luke

Chassis leg repair

Hi all. Anybody know a good way of repairing this? http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/150x100q90/924/2q7QPz.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/150x100q90/924/TlOt8X.jpg I was thinkingof welding the eyebolt tube to a plate. Pushing the plate against the chassis leg, so that the tube will sit in the o...

Re: A Thank You to all at NEC

Thanks, I certainly hope I get it to show standard. (I've just bought another minor so that should be good with the first being a learning curve).
You certainly did do it right. Such a kind bunch of people and so helpful.
Many Thanks.
