Re: Rear brake adjustment...conundrum!
Try the new shoes with the old drum. If they adjust up the the new drum is oversize. If not then try the old shoes with the new drum, then old shoes and old drums. You should be able to work out which parts are at fault. Good idea Beero, and thanks to everyone else too for their input. I will try t...

On the rear of my '67 2-door 1098cc Saloon I have.... - new drums - new brake shoes - decent adjusting screws (i.e. not overly worn or broken) - OK brake springs i.e. they're no broken ....BU...

Replacing rear bump stop - process
Hi all, I seem to be missing a rear bump stop on one side. See pic. I've read up on how to replace but i have a couple of additional questions. Process appears to be: 1) Raise rear of car.....book says sling up rear bumper brackets but i have no kit for that so any other suggestions? As I'm not remo...

Re: Wiring conundrum (ref front lights)

Hi all, I've just made a lovely diagram of my problem, and was about to upload and write out a lengthy explanation.....and have just realised there is one thing left I need to try before I can come back and say I'm fully flummuxed and ask you all for help! (and I can't seem to upload it anyway :( ) ...

Re: Random question about windscreen washer and MOT...
Ah, you learn something new everyday , thanks for all your replies, I'll add that to the MOT list. Good to know that it needs to be more than a dribble, and about the quality of the blades too.
My weekends between now and the MOT are going to quickly fill up with tasks!

Random question about windscreen washer and MOT...
Hi all, Just browsing the site taking mental notes etc, and remembered that my MOT is in May (its my first one with Monty) so I've started making notes about things i know will need fixing before then (non existent cross member ends, that kind of thing :( ). I know i need to fix the horn as I read a...

Re: Part rotten underfloor cross member - short term fix?
Thanks all, can anyone answer my question (just out of interest) about whether there is a box-section-type gap between where the spring hangers are and the inside floor in the car above? From memory, when I looked under the rear seat, in that area, I didn't see the patchwork of welding seams that I ...

Re: Part rotten underfloor cross member - short term fix?
Hi all, This is only an 'interim report' from a bit of underbody cleaning I did this weekend. I need to clean up a bit more of a wider area and will then post my 'full report' :D If you recall, the question is about a rotten outside end part of Monty's underfloor crossmember, on the drivers side. Th...

Re: Part rotten underfloor cross member - short term fix?
Hi all, thanks for your input. Next job is to have a proper clean underneath and see whats what. Before I owned Monty he's had some pretty messy floor welding done on the drivers side floor (front and rear) but it looks and feels quite solid. I always known that sometime in the future it would need ...

Blimey, it never rains, it.... :o Thanks for all the replies folks, all good to know. Cleaning off the underside has just jumped to the top of the 'to-do list!! Now where did I put those car ramps! (Don't worry, I'll be careful under there.) A related question I've been meaning to ask....I see some ...

Part rotten underfloor cross member - short term fix?
Hi all, This is probably a silly question but.... :-? One side of my underfloor crossmember is quite rotten, see photo. I don't really have the funds for welding this year, and learning to weld is on my wish list for next year.....so....shall i just leave this section as is, or should i cut it off (...

rubber seal between gearbox cover and floor
Hi all, I know these are sold by ESM and Bull Motif etc, but is there a more readily available high street alternative? I need to replace mine asap (had removed, cleaned and repainted cover, but seals didn't survive and Monty is getting very damp inside with gaping hole in the floor!).....so ideally...

Fuses: slow blow? quick blow?
Hi all,
Just about to buy a few 10amp fuses as spares (ebay is best I assume?) and they're all listed as either 'slow blow' or 'quick blow'.
Which do I want??
(1098 '67 saloon....although I doubt that makes a difference
Thanks
