Re: My side valve wont start, but has spark and fuel
So here it goes on progress, Motor taken out and to my surprise all valves are happy and free and doing what they do, plus they are in fantastic condition, and so are the piston rings with cylinders like mirrors, with no pits at all. There condition has come at quiet a surprise, especially consideri...

Re: My side valve wont start, but has spark and fuel
Yes the compression feels poor and uneven and for that reason alone I have not turned it over too many times in fear of damage, The idea of getting it going was that were it lives at present, Is a shed at the bottom of my property a little 'down hill' and was going to get it up on its own steam to m...

Re: My side valve wont start, but has spark and fuel
Oh also distributor is firm and is not loose and the correct plugs are in it and to my understanding the ignition sequence is correct.
As it turns over, about every 4th turn it will make a ''piffft'' noise.

My side valve wont start, but has spark and fuel
I have a old side vale MM series low light that has been asleep as a parts car for 3 years now and have decided that it is far to good and rare as a donor car and have decided to make it live again. So here is the deal, it is not seized, has spark at plugs, plenty of flow of fuel to carb, everything...

Re: 850side valve only turns over once then dies!
Thanks Chaps, she is turning over thanks to you advice! It had 3 dead plugs and one sick one! I have had 1 or 2 go but not the lot in one go! they were NKG plugs (correct size and type)that were barely 8 months old, dam plugs. I had some very old champion plugs with the brass ends and they give off ...

Re: 850side valve only turns over once then dies!
I think so as it is the same as my old series E, I have a new battery, and have done the petrol in the carb trick and the pump is ticking along with good pressure. I will double check the plugs but they all appear to be sparking. I hope I have checked all as I am sleep deprived due to twins keeping ...

Help! I own a 1951 low light that was running fine till one day it started to splutter and sound awful. so I drove it home thinking it was the carb but could not get it to run smooth and was becoming more gutless than usual. after 4-5 months of new parenthood I have come back to work on it to find i...
