Thanks for your replies. Very reassuring indeed. And as you both suggest I'll leave the V5C as it is.
Thanks again.

Hi guys. My recent aquisition is an October1969 4 door saloon. Mileage 105k.It is the later type engine with the chimney pot on the side vented to the carb. There is no engine number on the block. The engine number on the V5C is 10MAUH11667 I paid £10 to the B.M.M. heritage for a 1 item search to fin...

How to use the search function please
Hi. I have re-joined the club after a couple of years absence and am having difficulty finding out info. Rather than ask the obvious (to some) questions, I try searching first. when I ask about "recommended engine oil". i am told that it is ignoring the words engine and oil as they are too...

Re: main beam warning light
At last. I can afford some time on "Dancer." Ref the main beam warning light, there must be a break in the wiring in the loom from the foot switch to the warning light. I think I read on here to take a cable from the blue and white terminal on the foot switch and cut into the cable going t...

Re: main beam warning light
Hi Guys and thanks for the replies. It's good to know the speedo unit acts as the earth for the panel lights. so that seems normal.
I'm having a loft conversion done so a tad busy to work on the traveller. I'll report back when I get a chance.
Cheers for now.

main beam warning light
Hi again people. I removed and sent off my bronze faced speedo for overhaul as odometer wasn't working. On refitting, the dash lights glowed weakly until I mounted the speedo back into the dashboard when they brightened up. Pull the speedo back out and the lights go dull Speedo mounted back in and t...

Heater upgrade
Hi again. My 1963 Traveller has the round heater matrix. Is it possible / difficult to upgrade this to the square type matrix? The front panel has the hole for the fresh air ducting but no hole in the bulkhead. Would the heater tap on the block have to be upgraded to suit? I've done a search on here...

Re: anchor point
You have a pont steveclem. With no impact zones or crumple zones, what are we strspping ourselves in for? However they would help in whiplash incidents. Also a 50 year habit is hard to kick.

Thanks simmitc. Intersesting to know that's what it is. Like you, I think independent anchors would be the safest way to go.

anchor point
Hi again. Does anyone recognise this? (see photo) It's on the propshaft tunnel behind the front seats. Could it be used on my 1963 traveller for the front seat-belt stalks anchor point ? And yes, I need to clean the carpets!!

Re: rear crankshaft scroll.
Hi philthehil. Thanks for the quick reply. There are no holes in the bolt heads for tying wire. Thebolts are 7/16AF and 1/4 diameter. The bolts are unscrewed as far as possible but still "feel"as though they are still screwed into the block. the top cover is loose but but can't remove it d...

Re: rear crankshaft scroll.
The scroll will still be on the crankshaft. You may have to rob a rear cover off an unserviceable block. It may be worth doing a search on 'e' bay - or you could borrow the top cover off your spare engine. Having been waylaid on the gardening front, I am back on trying to remove the top cove off my...

Re: rear crankshaft scroll.
Update on the oil leak from rear of engine. While ordering the starter pull cable, I ordered a non vented cap. Cable fitted and new oil cap fitted I drove round the block a few times to get it warmed up. Parking it on the drive, I immediately went for the sand bucket to catch the drips. Lo and behol...

Re: 1963 pull starter cable
Thanks for your input guys really helpful. Just to let you know that the supplier said the cable is for various cars and to cut to suit. I was offered the chance of returning it but decided that the info on here was solid so I cut the outer cable with a standard hacksaw no probs and cut the inner ca...

Re: 1963 pull starter cable
Thanks for the replies so far. Yes, I now see that other suppliers sell what I'm looking for. (It's alwaystge case) I have an angle grinder so cutting can be done but need to buy new discs !! The cable they sent has an S on the black knob so it is a starter cable for something.(but not mine) I' ll g...

1963 pull starter cable
Hi Guys. I fitted a starter solenoid (switch) on my 1963 traveller only for the cable to give up at the end which was frayed. The new cable arrived today from Charles Ware but is about 4 times as long (See photo.) The current one is long as it is. There is a fair curve in it before it enters the joi...
