Re: Another id for sale on e bay
I asked the guy If he realised he was encouraging fraudulent use and he replied twice that I should get off my high horse and became abusive. Glad it has gone, shows the power of our club!

Re: Aerial options
I wouldn't hesitate in changing to negative earth, it is so easy to do and virtually unnoticeable. I have a cheap aerial under the dash with its booster connected in via a fuse. It is quite effective but as BMC says the Minor is quite noisy and that is where I shall put my efforts next with sound in...

Re: reputable garage - east london
Pity you're not local, we could do the job in an hour or so. Check that your chosen garage clears the little hole in the back plate, then when it eventually dribbles it will drain away without ruining your brake linings....

I asked and got a reasonable response but I think they don't understand. Could be quite a problem for a trader!

Just contacted seller who was unaware, very concerned and is contacting the previous seller. Dependant on the response he may have to withdraw the car from auction.

Think these will be safe as they went to a little old lady called Bodicea who reputedly drives quite carefully.

Mine came with the dreaded headlamp peaks and that's why my photo, like yours, is a rear end shot. They were quickly removed (free to anybody who pays postage!).

Ensure you don't direct a pressure washer onto the tyre side walls. High pressure can destroy tyres!

Re: Advice on brakes
It isn't just the size of the contact patch but the quality of rubber. Cheaper tyres have less grip, modern tyres are rated for grip but apparently some eastern imports are giving themselves 'A' ratings which equate to a European 'E'! Another major factor is the age of the tyres, after 6 years they ...

Re: Spark on the coil Nut
I had an HT problem for months on an old car, it was like Christmas under the bonnet and sparked everywhere. Ran OK for a while, then a connection just broke down: burnt rotor arm, then coil caps, then connectors. Eventually found to be incorrect dissy cap (30 degrees out!). Unlikely to be that on a...

Jacked mine up both sides on the original jack when I bought it (just as I had done with a new 2 door in 1969). Haven't dared since I read Roy's warning, do the jacking points fall off?

Got a set of used trims in the shed if they are any use to anybody. Would need cleaning and polishing but free if you collect from Whitstable or from Pluck's Gutter meeting.

I made the same mistake last year and bought 5 year anti-freeze (only the best...) and then found out it was attacking my cooling system. It is in small print on the containers usually "not suitable for some classic cars". Frustrating!

I think that sounds encouraging. It states that the sale of these documents is illegal and that is grounds for reporting to EBay who must then withdraw it. If DVLA then put a marker on....

Re: Waxoyl application
Bought 2 tins of Bilt Hamber which came in pressurised cans with long plastic nozzles for about £40 delivered and they were brilliant and did the job. Easy to use and not messy. Expected to have to drill holes but found they already existed as chassis drain holes. One tip though: Insert tube just in...
