Thanks Bob, that VHT dye is the key, really brings it up, looks almost like new, now the fitting, fiddly job to say the least.
The two clips fitted back on hold the headboard back in position, surprised how easy that went in.[frame][/frame]

actually, just googled the old Austin Atlantic, and the Morris Minor lowlight is a far better design, more pleasing to the eye by far, Had the Dinky toy one as a kid so my memory fooled me.

As soon as I saw that first picture I was struck by how much the low light convertible looks like the rarer Austin Atlantic, especially with the spats, what a great looking car. With the white walls as suggested, she's be a headturner of breakneck proportions.

the VHT spray dye can arrived in the mail today, very quick post as I only purchased it on e bay Saturday, Great coverage, as you can see here, easy to use, fully recommend this.[frame][/frame]

I very nearly managed to get it out intact but the right clip did't play cricket and the wood cracked a bit. I'll be able to fix it with pva glue, next was the clip removal, I have two original clips now and their split pins.

By the way Bob thanks again for the leaflet and photocopied stuff on wiper motors, very handy it was too, what with all the rain we've had.

Hi Bob, I'm using a tip from George Hurst's thread about headlining, he suggested using a bent kitchen knife to spring the clips to extract the wood former. I will call this "the George Hurst method" takes patience, but it's the only way to get the fragile wooden former out in one piece. I...

fantastic, this old mark still throws up surprises, never seen one of those before, great project, I imagine morris minors are quite rare in your neck of the woods, but this will be unique. Looking forward to following this thread and seeing her on the road.

one the whole I'm pleased with my first bit of work on my Pickup for quite some time, I'm letting it dry overnight as I said and I'll stretch it out tomorrow in sunlight for a better shot. the edges have repaired quite nicely, the wire feed channels need to be in good condition so I'm leaving the glue to harden overnight.[frame][/frame]
