Re: Spotted today.
Like London buses ! Driving my 3 door smoke grey though my village of Iver on my way to work ( I use it every day ) I was gobsmacked to see coming towards me a dark blue saloon moggy, I had heard there was another one in our area but had not seen it yet, well what do you know ! 10 minutes down the r...

Re: 1098 not running right
bmcecosse wise words, you speak the same language as Adrian, I had never come across a man that could file a needle like him and know what it needed to make that much difference, he tuned my Speedwell 1275 S and it went better than I had ever known, anyway back to the MM, I will check the casting et...

Re: 1098 not running right
Jason and others Thanks to you all for suggestions, A series are not difficult engines to get running correctly and that's why this one is a bit of a mystery, yes I have checked most of the basics and still it does not sing along, I am aware that it's the long stroke and will not rev as eagerly as t...

Re: 1098 not running right
Thanks for both your replies, yes you right I will start checking the obvious but everything is new, I know that does not mean it's right but Mini's were really my thing but am really happy with the MM and am sure it will get sorted.
will start the checks tomorrow bit by bit and see how we go.

The engine is a new 1098 with 1 1/4 su basically the car does not feel right, I have had a series before including 1100's and this one feels wrong. Here we go :- does not pull well but gets there, I know they don't rev but this one has a vibration throughout, when coming of the throttle it feels hes...

certainly considered that, have used that type of handbrake on a lotus 7 type build before, guess it may be the easiest .
was thinking of joining the two front seats together to make the bench.

Just fit 165/82x13 tyres the rolling radius is just about the same as your 14" and will fit the wheels arch much better

Re: column gear change
Mike
Thanks, there is a column from an MO on ebay but I did not know if the parts were interchangeable , does the MO use the same gearbox ?
MarkyB
Thanks but dont want an auto will be towing our classic caravan the idea is to have a bench seat without the cut out for the gearchange/handbrake.

Re: morris splitty history and modifications?
You just have to go with the sidevalve, they look so good when prepared correctly,
Here is the one out of my 100E full Aquaplane.

Re: flickering rev counter and temp gauge
Sorted it !!
The new bumble bee HT lead was causing the problem with the tachometer, I guess the poor shielding was affecting the wiring on the coil, replaced it with the old one and all back to normal.. shame I liked the yellow/black lead.

bmcecosse. Thanks for the suggestion, now that makes sense, I have just fitted new HT bumble bee leads and may have caught the coil connection, will check in the morning. Re: flickering rev counter and temp gauge
Kind of obvious to say 'look for loose connections' - but that's what it is........
Know what you mean..... but whoever built the r/h glove box cover with the tacho and guages made it so it does not come out !! so its a bit difficult to get in there.
So its drivers seat out on my back then
